Spirit - the amazing grey dewlap toulouse gander!

He has a mate and definitely tries to breed her in the kiddy pool. He's gotten pretty darn close to succeeding, too!

He is currently in a yard with his girl, his girl's best friend, and an elderly African gander. The African is more crippled than Spirit, so while the African acts above Spirit in pecking order, he can't really do Spirit much harm.

Haha sounds like they are good to eachother :)
Its really cool that you care so much for these two ganders!
I bet that if spirt or your african gander were born somewhere else that they would have never made it because they wouldent care about the birds and your vets a good man.

Spirit and the old African gander (aka Walter) are good to each other most of the year. But after I posted that, I went ahead and split the pairs up into their own yards and Spirit immediately jumped into the kiddy pool and hasn't left. I realized that while there was no fighting, Walter was keeping Spirit from being able to relax in the pool. Spirit has had his boot off for a few hours now and it must feel good in the water to not have it on.

Scott is a great dvm and special man. I am blessed to have him as a friend.

So far i never had a disabled goose but if i get one ill take good care of it because you make it sound fun! i once had a gosling that had its jaw a bit sideways and was fine until it got taken by a hawk and last year had a gosling that had hairy lip,its head was massive and beak was very tucked in and it didnt make is either :/ lets see what this year will bring us

We have reached a new milestone. Spirit turns 2yo today. Never thought he'd make it this far and I am so grateful that he has.

Happy Birthday, Spirit!
