Unfortunately I'm not getting any eggs right now! After seeing those pics, I want to hatch some more Spitzhaubens!
Nice! The boys will begin to develop wattles at 7-8 weeks. So it takes a while. I'm waiting to sex mine too, they are 5 and 6 weeks. At 6 to 7 weeks, if you can get them to look up, you might start to see the beginnings of red wattles peeking out.I just bought these lovely chicks! I was told they are four weeks old. When is it possible to sex them?
I'm so sorry, I have to chuckle with this one. My spitzies have 100% fertility and usually close to that in hatch rate. Out of my orps, seramas and spitzies, spitzies are the easiest. One of my chicken friends said that Spitzhaubens are super hard to breed (naturally) has anyone had fertility problems with theirs?
The only thing i can think would be having too many girls for only 1 roo. Last year i had 1 roo to 4 girls simply because that's all I had. This year I had 2 roos over 6 girls. I would really like to have 2 over 10, but getting the girls is up to chance. For whatever reason, I hatch more boys than girls while my friend @Faraday40 hatches more girls than boys. Havent figured that one out yet either!
