The magnificent bird! I want to have five - seven of these birds I can buy an eggs .Where? I live in Texas

A friend picked up some eggs for me while driving back up from Missouri. Unfortunately I have no idea who the breeder was.

I had tried hatching shipped eggs twice before with no success. Getting the fresh eggs, I got 6 out of 6! (Really wish I knew where mine came from.) I read that Cackle has decent quaility if you want silver spitzes.

But also, it is the dark time of year.... Spitz do better with artificial light if you want them to lay.

12 to 14 hours a day.

I now know that my Spitz is molting. I've been finding her pretty spangled feathers around the coop. I added a small string of Xmas lights on a timer, so perhaps she'll lay again after molting.

Well, due to an impulse purchase by the SO, we just obtained two Spitzhauben from Greenfire, cute lil buggers.
