Her comb does seem to be getting a little more pink. I’m not sure if that means anything with this breed since they’re not supposed to have a red comb anyways!

When I first got birdie, she was an only bird child. Naturally very noisy from being lonely but even more so if someone wasn’t holding her. But then I got her a mirror :lau

She did go through a period of being scared of the world. Now she’s not nearly as flighty. She’s super nosey, curious, and will chance any stick or branch you move around. Kind of another reason I was like omg I hope you’re not a roo. She seems very confident for a pullet! And she’s much more independent than the silkie. In fact the silkie loves her so much, maybe even thinks birdie is her mom even though they’re only 2 weeks apart. The silkie cries for her if they’re separated but Birdie doesn’t care much if the silkie is not around. She pecks away and keeps it moving. She’s a very odd but silly birdie!

It's still too early to know for sure. Pea combs take longer to develop. :) I'm not seeing anything indicating cockerel yet, but only time will tell for sure.

Sumatras seem to be feisty in nature....however, some are also affectionate. Mine is both.

I'm pretty sure red combs and faces are correct for splash variety Sumatras. :) It's the black that sport dark features. Hopefully the pink you're seeing comes and goes, which would probably be caused by momentary excitement? :D If it were here to stay, I'd be a little more suspicious.

Birdie sounds like a real stinker, not to mention full of personality! Not sure if that's typical for the breed, but my experience has been very similar. Bet you love her to pieces. :loveHopefully the rejected Silkie will eventually get the attention it deserves. :);)

Birdie is quite the jerk! But that’s what makes her so funny! The silkie (Fifi) is just as silly. She keeps trying to jump on birdie’s back, gets hit by birdie’s long tail feathers when Birdie turns around which turns into Fifi freaking out ...runs around peeping like she’s going to die, tries to fly like Birdie aka jumps up and flaps her tiny wings but just falls straight down. They are comical! They clearly have different strengths since they’re different breeds!

They are both funny birds. They are stinkers (literally! No really they stink! Lol) The funniest part was when I first put them together. Fifi was scared since I’m pretty sure she’s only seen silkies before and Birdie just kept hogging the mirror chirping like I don’t need you fluff...I already have a friend. As you can tell from me ranbling on, I watch them way too much. I’m a first time feather mom though and I don’t know what to expect...like when they used to sleep like they were dead when they were tiny chicks. That used to scare the crap out of me!
