Sweet little Birdie....:love It's still quite early, but so far, that comb isn't unusually red or developed. :)

Yay that makes me so happy! Her feathers have gotten more filled. Fairly sure she’s all feathered now. And all of them are very rounded. It’s becomming easier to tell! For me at least. Now I got to post another thread on my silkie sure hoping that was is a female too! She loves birdie and I would hate to have to separate them but we can’t have a rooster unfortunately.

Here’s Birdie! Not the best photos. She’s become a lot more friendly. I handle her quite a lot and hand feed her a lot too which has really helped her nervy bird self. She’s pretty much (if not fully) feathered now! Since her feathers are all very rounded, this would confirm she is a she correct?

I'm leaning towards cockerel myself. See how the tail carriage is more down and the shape of the tail is pointed "not the individual feathers themselves" but the overall shape of the tail. Sumatras are very slow maturing and slow to get their saddle feathers. I wouldn't say for 100% sure but with over 15 years breeding Sumatras my gut says cockerel. Keep updating with pictures. I've got my fingers crossed for a pullet for you :fl

Thanks. I’ll check the tail feathers again. Do you have any pictures of birds around the same age? And any other clues I should look for?

Here are some pictures of Birdie’s tail. Birdie normally holds it like straight out and like a hollow circle when s/he lays down. Here are some night pics. I’ll get better ones in the morning but here’s for right now. I included one also to show the feet size. Hard to see it in comparison with her body because she’s too busy night dirt pecking lol

Birdie just continues to become cuter with each passing day! :love As much as I hate to say this, the fact "her" comb appears to remain pink makes me highly suspicious. :hmm Pullets of pea-combed breeds usually don't begin developing until point of lay nears.

I understand it's not the same color variety, but here's a shot of my Sumatra's comb at about 17 -18 weeks of age for reference:
