Splayed leg

yeah i agree! let her rest and then get to the action XX i love the way you are willing to fight for her to live! :love:hugs

I hate to see any animal suffering.. and I know chickens are very much live or die animals, but for one so young it seems a shame to give up on her when she's only just started out x

Um... you could try putting some taping that is soft on their legs to loosely brace the legs together Or use pipe cleaners if you have some to tie them around the legs. It's probably a good idea to do some " rehab " to help the chick gain muscle around their feet like halting it walk on a grip mat or a rough surface and tempt it with food or something. Hope that helps xx

I have been manipulating hers legs in a cycling motion to help every few hours. I have been wondering if the brace is too tight/stiff but it was traumatic enough getting that's one on the poor thing I have got some pipecleaners but they might be to ridged? Will have a look and see if I have some adhesive bandage somewhere

It seems that she doesn't have the strength to even sit up right, she just flops on her belly... really don't know what to do best for her...

You could try with a piece of wool but it's probably good to make it a bit sturdy. It's a slow process so don't expect the chick to be suddenly able to walk after 5 minutes. Maybe even hold up its belly/ chest area as it attempts to walk .
I've seen on the net people putting the chicks in a glass cup lined with a paper towel to put it in the standing position. The glass cup should be small enough so the chick doesn't roll froward or lies on its belly.
Hope your chick gets better soon!

Chick update. She's doing well, standing up a little bit now and the odd small burst of walk and then falling over but pleased so far. Still sleeping a lot and not doing much but when she is moving it's much better x

On her own as the others were pecking her x
