Hello
Hey Jake

400

Well, I did it! I ordered my babies!!! I decided on the beginning of March vs February because it's still going to be below freezing at night most of the time here in Feb, and with our dog the brooders will have to be set up in the garage. Plus, I couldn't get a Salmon Faverolle before the beginning of March and the kids and I really wanted "the bearded lady" lol!

Welcome we cannot wait to see them when you get them. Do you already have a coop?

18 (10 meaties that will...um...vanish after 7 or so weeks) plus a pkt of GroGel and the certificate just for fun!

No brooder/coop yet! Hubby has been advised that I was baby chick care stuff from TSC for Christmas. Then we have two months after the Christmas season to build brooders, a coop, and portable run for the Cornish Cross to have daily field trips in the sun and garden... as much as the weather allows at least.

I think you should build the coop twice as big as you think, the chicken math is setting in early with you! Lol, I am limited in how many birds I can have and I will neither confirm nor deny wether or not my list reflects that number. The block foundation walls for my coop getting started tomorrow:) I have read so many times on here how people put the chicks before the coop and had to rush to finish, I want to brood in coop in April and I intend to get it done! Here is hoping I do not get snow in the way of my progress.

Share coop pics as you get going!

Thanks

Chicken math is a real phenomenon, best to just embrace it. For instance we started with six in June, and now we're adding 9 in January. And I'm so fricking excited that I can barely contain myself. Of course I'm still waiting for 5 of the June ladies to start laying but they should pick up in Feb at the latest, and by July I should be getting more eggs than I'll need.
