Spring Fox Trouble

You only have 2 choices here.
Kill the fox or spend the time and money to make a predator proof coop.
Fox WILL keep coming back til theres no food left. (it'll still stop by occasionally to see if you've replenished the pantry)
Poison would be my absolute last resort but always an option.

I would lock up my cats temporarily (you will have some VERY angry kitties) and either put a snare trap, leg trap or a live trap out.

A fox-sized live trap is probably your best option, especially if you don't want to/can't bring your cats in. I'd catch it and take it far, far away to a nice state park. A lil' road trip is worth the life of my chickens, in my opinion

If you use a snare or leg trap, you have to be prepared to kill it. A lot of people are unable to do this which is why a live trap is a better option a lot of the time. You can either borrow one or buy one at your local farm and garden store.

Put a nice hunk of chicken or other meat in the trap and wait...he'll/she'll come.

Yeah dog food or fried chicken works great
I have removed 3 fox 2 coons and 5 snakes just this weekend
And yes keep human smell off the trap

part of how I keep my smell of traps is to use rubber gloves the gloves go halfway to my elbows I wipe them on green pine needles before I start to mess with traps it seems to working well for me. good luck

Were these adult foxes? We were able to trap young kits but never an adult.

If it is a grey fox oily fish is a good bait sardines, jack mackerel etc that or molasses as strong smelling as you can find ,molasses does not attract cats and dogs like fish does.

Need to get rid of Fox family. Adult Fox took one of our chickens and came back for another (wounded badly) during the middle of the day, people and dogs were around.
So my question is ....What kind of poison and bait would you recommend as we also have two cats and a 6 month old puppy that we dont want to harm.
