Spring Granny Square Swap

OK I finally settled on a pattern. I will probably vary the colors a little to keep from getting bored. I had to use the camera on my phone, which isn't great but here is the finished pattern.

Oops! That came out huge! I guess we no longer have the option of displaying a pic at different sizes. I need to tweak the outer row a bit. Stitches still aren't quite right.

My monitor makes the teal color look more blue and the purple doesn't show up well but in person the colors look great together! IDK if I will do 2 sets yet. If I do I will choose a simple pattern for the second set.
Sunny that is so lovely and such a unique pattern. I love it!!!

I'm not sure if I will do 2 sets this go round either, esp at the rate I'm going right now.

The good thing is that I have been plowing through to get some unfinished projects complete. I still have more promised projects to do, but itching to get started on the spring squares.

LOL, I have a guy here too that loves his ball, I have to corral him inside once in a while so the others can play...Mine will push a basketball around the yard (over half acre) with his nose endlessly until he hits a roadblock with it, he'll nudge it a few times into where ever it's stuck...then we hear the whine...okay who gets to go get Denali's ball loose... :) He's not the brightest tool in the shed, but we love him ....

Awwwwwww!!!! How cute!!!! I know my furry animals & feathered ones bring much joy and entertainment to our life!

Thanks Rancher! Thanks Kim! I really like that it's unique. Kim you will recognize this pattern from that book we both have, 101 Crochet Squares. It's number 55. I just had to make the grid smaller (5x5 instead of 7x7) and leave off a couple rounds from the outer edge to keep it to 6". Oh I also added a single crochet round to the inner grid part. Because I was changing color the edge of the grid was getting lost so I added a row.

Oops just looked at it and I also changed the way it attached in the "squaring up" round. The picots lay flatter the way I did it. The way the book shows it, the picots that aren't attached keep curling up so I changed it to snag them all and to get the square to the correct 6".

Oh I LOVE that book! I would have never recognized it, b/c it looks so plain in the book being one color. You really do it justice. I did square # 34 out of the same book for the fall swap. I think I did square #16 for last years spring swap and might do it again for this swap. I made the center circle smaller and had to add a round to make it 6" square.

Hey Rancher~ Where did you get your beautiful floral pattern? There is one in the same book that reminded me of yours. It's square #83.

Quote: I think I'm going to use the pattern that is on the lower half of this page. Of course not in these colors since most of them are not in the color scheme for this swap. This is an old pic of the squares I did for last year's spring swap and I know some of you have probably seen it before. I do have some of the light lavender and dark purple yarn left over I might use for the center of the floral design, but want to get a "cooler" colored green for the back ground part, b/c I think the one in the pic might be too bright and I have no idea of how I will edge it yet.

I have an old book from when I first started crocheting and knitting long ago. I have seen it in other books too. What's hard is the yarns it calls for are no longer made by Coats and Clarks.

Those two blocks are lovely. I bet yours does take a lot of time Rancher. If you stick with the cool colors they'll be awesome. I like yours also Sunny Dawn. I didn't get my messages again today. I had to come into the web site to see if anyone had posted. Whatever they did to fix it they need to do again. At least I can keep in touch though. It takes a while to get the kinks out of something new. I can attest to that doing the Masonic newsletter like I do.

I like both patterns Smitty. I have to get back to the newsletter s I have to have it to the printers in two days. Bye for now.

Quote: I like it better in colored yarns too. I love that floral pattern! That will be awesome in cool colors.

Bummer that you aren't getting your notifications again Betty.

Good luck with the newsletters.

Rancher I love the rose pattern! The others are right, that will be perfect in cool colors.
