The students looked at the pictures and had a moments panic because of how pretty and fancy they are. They calmed down after the " Don't sweat it we are beginners" talk, their squares look fine, some are even fancy lol. They are really excited too, we got a donation of really pretty Amethyst colored yarn!

Tell your students they are doing great!!!

Here's my first lonely practice square made w/ some stash yarn. ~Enjoy~

Kim that is a gorgeous square! Love those two colors together. I first tried one with just light blue and dark blue together but it didn't have the pop I was looking for. It was a perfect 6 inches though. lol Love the 2 new colors too!

Kreative Kat, WOW! Who knew so much could be done with crochet? I wanted to add some beads to a project I did for my granddaughter but couldn't figure out how to do it so I left them out. The grey and white ones are very unique, very cool looking! Now you've got me wondering if there is a Yin and Yang pattern out there somewhere. That Rapunzel hat is just too adorable!!!

Kate your students should have seen the horrible crocheting I did at their age! Trust me they are doing a fantastic job!!!

Wow! What lovely work. I love the colors of the yarn. My colors are about the same. I already posted pictures a while back. We'll have some great swaps. Smitty's Farm explained the math. I think I'll divide them up equally like in the past if no one objects. I didn't mention that at the beginning post. Sorry about that.

Kreative - very nice and ambitious.

I'll stick with granny square, thank you.

Writer - tell the kids to relax. I've been at this for almost 40 years. When I started you could still get needles made out of whale bone. Besides my favorite is just to do squares with multiple colors of yarn like the traditional squares. To me nothing looks nicer than the old style with each square surrounded by black.

Here are two of my favorite so far that I've made. I know there is no white in the color wheel but I think it looks nice. I'll most likely make more than necessary and if no one wants them then they can be sent to Writer. Okay? Or I can just keep them and send them to her with the rose squares. The colors don't come out quite true. That blue is baby blue not turquoise.

Sunny~ Thank you! Glad you like the colors. They were the only ones I had on hand before going to the store and I was itching to get started. Actually found some more yarn when I dug deeper in my stash. Still not sure what pattern or color combo's I will use. Need to play around w/ them some more. I was disappointed in the lack of selection of yarn & colors yesterday at JoAnn's, so didn't buy too much. I'll be making another run else where at another time.

Kreativkat~ I didn't realize the bracelet was a product of crocheting until I went back to read the description. Very unique! Impressive as well as the earrings. Where did you get the patterns?

Writer~ You can tell your students that at least they are learning how to read the direction of the patterns. That's fantastic! Nobody taught me how to read them when I learned as a child and I didn't learn how until about 4 yrs ago and I'm still learning. I fumble through reading the dreaded abbreviations all the time. I still have things come out all lopsided and don't know where I go wrong.
