"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

DO YOU ever let the mama turkeys raise their poult?  My turkeys hatched yesterday.  In a pen but manage to kill off a couple already.   So I took the last 2 away.  No the other turkey has six .  but I am afraid she'll not take care of them.  Do ya think I should take them too

I will later in the spring. When I want to slow egg production.

I have let them raise them. Some are good mothers some arent.

I think it's better to take them away.

Usually by the time I let them hatch I'm ready to free range and the hens like to roost in the fence and I lose them to predators.

What type of turkeys do you have?

Oh no!!

I seen a few viable ones. A little heart beat. Gives me hope.
They are evil as soon as you stop looking at them Billie, luckily will have chicks from under the hen
Yes, that is right. Our seramas in the Brinsea are looking great as well.

a bit nervous I'm not out at the farm friend is keeping an eye on the hen make sure she don't try to kill the chicks when they hatch as it's her first time brooding, but she was one that took in chicks at 8 weeks old and raised them for 3 weeks so heres hoping. Our main flock is barely a year old

I'm in I have 35+ eggs hatching today. Don't know if they count. Also have 42 in the other incubator set to hatch in 14 days. And will be setting another full egg turner of eggs after this hatch today.

We are only allowing one to brood at a time, got 4 or 5 more hens waiting their turn lol so outta be an interesting spring here
