Ours is probably awful as well. My neighbor goes to them. I'm trying to stay away from buying any outside sourced chickens due to diseases. Unles I know the people that I'm getting them from. Even then it can be trouble.

Quote: Same here. The people I intend to deal with (most of the people that'll be there) are NPIP and are serious about it meaning something. I'm still worried about sick birds at the swap, but I won't be taking any of my birds with me. I was going to take a Dom hen that's getting on my nerves, but it's looking like she has Vent Gleet and I'm not willing to make her someone else's problem.

With all the different diseases chickens can get its amazing any survive. Both times I've got birds from another people they've died and caused problems with mine. Both sellers would be what I consider good people and care about their birds. Fortunately mine are ok now. But tomorrow.....

Quote: I think I got lucky recently. I picked up 7 birds from the daughter of someone DH works with. I sold all but 4. 2 extra Silkie roos and a Dom hen. I kept a trio of Silkies and an EE hen. They've been in quarantine for 2 months, but the Silkies are staying where they are. The EE is just waiting for a coop expansion. No mites, no lice, and they aren't sick.
