"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

Quick update: 52 shipped Cream Brabanter eggs have resulted in 1 CB chick over the past 2 months. I candled the last two that were due yesterday. They look DIS but I'm waiting until tonight for eggtopsy. My own CB eggs have been infertile or blood rings. This has been an expensive lesson.
Three mixed breed due Friday. 20 mixed breed due 24th.
So sorry you're having such bad luck. I hope things improve for you son.

The window of my Farm Innovations foam incubator is getting a little condensation on it. Is it because some of the eggs are hatching or because I have too much water in the channels? I know it is hard for some of you to see the water channels since the incubator is so far from the screen, but is what I'm asking is how common it is to get condensation once the chickies start coming out to play.
When the chicks start pipping/zipping and hatching the humidity shoots up.

When I got home from work this morning at 7:30 AM I had two chicks hatched out . Now about an hour and twenty minutes later there is a total of six out, and another one zipping. There's only 2 or 3 that haven't pipped out of the twenty six eggs. But its hard to tell now because the chicks are knocking the remaining eggs around. It's almost like pop corn. lol

Accidents happen.

I don't see that you have a problem.

I like the incubators in the basement as the temp and humidity are steady year round. They are also out of the way from playing dogs.

I'm glad you have developing.

Wonderful!

20 quail eggs would be a couple.

Great news! Good luck!

Morning Chaos!
We have Nigerian Dwarf goats

AHHHH!! I have a chick!! Wasn't due to hatch until SATURDAY NIGHT, geez, so not ready!!!
And it hatched on top of the turner because it wasn't supposed to go into lock down until tonight!

So i had my daughter cuddle the new chick( It was mostly fluffy) while i took the turner out this morning. Filled the extra channels (the humidity was only like 35-40%) and put the little guy back in the incubator with the other eggs. Because i am setting the brooder up tonight after i get home from work. He should be good in there until i get home

I really hope no others hatch until this weekend.

YAY -- one of mine pipped "early," so I took that as a cue to lockdown, even though it was a day early. I have four out this AM, two more obviously zipping, and numerous pips. And "day 0" is not until tomorrow. Spring chicks are lively (so I've always been told). This is my first ever hatch, so I'm hardly the voice of experience.

Now I need to get my last group out of the brooder (they are five weeks now) and clean it up for my new arrivals. Yes, you're going to be busy I think!
