"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

Ok, I'm swearing off candling. I made a horrible mistake last night. I thought an egg going into lockdown was dead, so I went to do an eggtopsy, only to find out it was still alive...
Ok maybe not swear off candling, but swear off tossing, unless there is a blood ring or its infertile. And only candle at day
So sorry....

I candle frequently but never get rid of anything. I just don't have any confidence in what I am actually looking at. I am candling more frequently (so I have the practice and can tell more what I am looking at) but I don't remove anything unless I am SURE or smell something funky. Maybe you can try that?

Here is her on the nest and she starts hissing and all if you get near the dog house
Nice place for her.

Sorry that happened.

Two little bantams out of my bad air cell eggs. Hoping for a girl.

Reminds a bit of my Agatha, an Easter Egger with a propensity for going broody. Sweetest, most gorgeous funny faced chicken on the planet. But when she's broody, she goes from Agatha the Hen:

To Attila The Hen!!
So Pretty!!!

Hooray! I love serams! They are on my ultimate wanted breed list!

Yeah, I know what you mean. The two toned chocolate ones are my favorite. But I got to get better at hatching before I try those. I am practicing with quail eggs. If I can get good at hatching those tiny eggs I figure that the Serama eggs will do fine.
