"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

I need another bator... Neighbor offered me 13 duck eggs but I already have some eggs in!!! :barnie Sound too stupid to stagger them that much? Hatch date would be 8 days apart..... :/

Better hurry on the coolerbator!

you know how much you love ducks!!!

So I am already beating my ratios from the last time I tried to incubate!! Woohoo!! Not that's all that great lol, 3ish years ago I tried many times to no avail and probably used up 6+ dozen eggs(many expensive but gifted by a dear friend-now deceased) and I hatched 1 we roo, currently I have 3 out and set 41, some clears blah blah blah will do eggtopsies on Monday night to get final score but so far it is an improvement

I usually wait until day 23 or later for eggtopsies.

Stick them in now and hatch in the coolerbator.

Nah. Makes too much sense!

Problem is I run into sooo many problems with everything I do... Hatching, coop building you name it. Always something jumps up in the way that delays it so I'd be suprised if I got it finished in time.... Hmm... Decisions decisions.... :p

And I dont got a place to keep them yet!!!! :barnie

Apr. 3 10 out of 11 hatched 6 white silkies and 4 Plymouth rock
Apr. 13-15 in classroom 7 out of 11 hatched, and one more internally pipped.
Apr. 23rd 15 eggs that are doing well, mix of Plymouth rock and silkies.
Pitched 4 ameraucana eggs that were infertile and due to hatch on Apr. 27th.
Set 55 eggs, that are due to hatch on May 2nd, but will have plenty of infertile, due to one rooster who is not doing his job.

Whew!! So relieved! Now she is in there playing soccer, and just before I helped another one hatched so now there are actually 2 in there playing soccer

:woot  for the soccer players.

I would think if it has two fertilization spots that it would be a double yolker. I've never heard of that happening to a single yolk before.

You think? Ok must just be my imagination. Can't wait till I candle them again. That would be so fun if it was twins then I could assist them hatching.
