"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

Here are my first ducklings of the year. Next batch has a bunch of eggs from my lilac girl, I am excited to see what colors I get. I got several blue in this hatch which makes me happy.

Oh no! I was taking out the turner in my incubator just now for lockdown & I noticed that there was no water in it! I have not been keeping track of humidity but the air cells were the right size at Day 14. I have not added water since my husband left town last Wednesday though. I have a Little Giant styro incubator & the humidity is usually pretty low in the air here.

I just filled it up with water, should I also add a sponge or wet paper towels or something? Also, are there any problems I should be ready for in case the humidity has been too low the last few days?

Here they are. One has curled toes. I have her in corrective shoes.
Cute!

I got my serama eggs down to about 43% humidity...I will candle again tomorrow. (Day 11)

My LG with 34 eggs is doing great. I candled some of the lighter colored eggs and could see small veins. (Day 5)

I just went out to look for eggs and one of my BO hens fluffed up and growled at me. I collected from the other nests (5 eggs) and placed them next to her and walked away. I came back and she has pulled all the eggs under her so I'm thinking we have a broody! I'm not sure how many she was already on, maybe 1 or 2. I will give her whatever other eggs we get today as well.
Hooray for a Broody Hen!

First poult of the year.

Looks to be pure palm.

1 out.
1 half out.
3 more pipped out of 8 eggs.
Wonderful!

The chicks really liked this mirror. I think the roo is thinking he is a really good lookin' guy!

Very Cute!

If the air cells look good don't worry. Do you know what the humid is now? For lockdown get it between 60%-70%

Here are a few tiny Seramas with vintage chick that makes a good mama for them.
Cute tiny little things

Lockdown is day 19 with humidity between 60-70%. I've set my own eggs along with the shipped eggs and my eggs hatch everytime. That's two batches of shipped eggs that didn't make it. I haven't done eggtopsies on the shipped eggs yet but I will soon.
Not sure what advice to offer, specially since it only seems to affect shipped eggs. Hope this go around is better for ya.
