I'm so happy! I ordered a variety box of English orpingtons and they are all so beautiful. I can figure out what some of them are but not sure on others. It'll be fun to watch them feather out. Also started the new hatch in the incubator last night. I'll post the numbers later.

well and here I found I am not the only human left on earth who still candles with light coming up from pointy end LOL https://www.facebook.com/FreshEggsD...382679370316/1083828328325742/?type=3&theater

Will try it the way all you guys do about midway through. After reading a bunch of these articles about how fragile shipped eggs can be now I am neurotic. I used to ship in Button quail eggs all the way from California in the 80's before my breeders were laying and it never occurred to me they were all that fragile. I had a better than 80% hatch rate on shipped eggs and 90-100% on my own eggs

Oops I just happened to stop at TSC today.........oh my goodness.

Prime decided to bounce on seconds head so I opened up quickly and removed it added more water and shut the bator quick. saw several more pips and hope that I haven't hurt the rest. That first one is six hours older and just kept bouncing on the other. Sign of a boy? lol

I do occasionally open the bator to grab one out, and they are fine. I just make sure I close it very quickly, and at the same time I throw a very warm very wet paper towel in the incubator, so my humidity stays at about 60. I definitely don't open it far at all, just a crack, and I close it very quickly. Humidity usually drops about 2-3% and then goes right back up because of the wet towel.
