Hi
I set 14 shipped eggs on March 26. Does that mean I can be part of this thread? These eggs should hatch end of next week I guess? This is my first ever hatch. Also my first ever incubator. I'm kind of terrified.

:frow

As long as eggs are in the incubator in April you can be part of the thread :D
The first time sure can be terrifying but everyone here to help you. Good luck :fl

I have 6 of my bantam cochins going into lock down tomorrow.  Have to wonder how many will die while in lock down.  Bad bad air cells in three of them.  Crossing fingers for a few at least.  I knew I shouldn't have ordered from back east.  :/    Too far.   Took 4 days.  Got stuck in the town next to us in their sorting facility on a Sunday.

Good luck Cynthia, :fl you get some that hatch.

Think my hatch is done, the 3 pipped eggs hatched in the night :jumpy The remaining 2 are showing no signs but I will candle when I move these hatched ones to the brooder. So as of now 12/14 have hatched that made it to lockdown.

LUCK!!!! Can't wait to read about it.

Ugh, so my 13 year old dropped an egg when rotating tonight and broke it open. Had to take them out and clean the bator real quick. Then she wanted to have an attitude with me. Got to love teens! So 71 eggs now, down a white silkie. (Maybe, it was only a day old so who knows if it was fertile...I didn't check). Anyhow, the others at 4 days are already showing veins in some of them!
OMG! I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago; except I am not a teen, although I did still have attitude. The egg hit the side of the incubator and just shattered while I was candling. It was an infertile egg. I hope you got everything cleaned up quickly, it took me forever and the eggs were still okay. Good luck and I hope your daughter isn't too upset. Poor thing.

you get some that hatch.
Good luck Cynthia!

Okay, I decided to set 40 for the April hatch. The 22 hens out of 34 chicks hatched in the Easter hatch we're going to be added to my flock, but I got a good offer for the entire hatch and took it. That means I still need more pullets by around September.

Good luck everyone.

Welcome! Yes, it can be nerve-wracking but so exciting when they hatch. There are lots of experienced people here to help with questions.
