"Springing in the Chicks" 2016 April Hatch-a-Long Hosted by Mike & Sally

I had a Golden-laced Wyandotte Roo over 3 Barred Rock Hens and 3 Black Star Hens. It'll be interesting to see who they favor as they grow up. 23 eggs in the incubator, this is our second hatch ever, the first was just before these eggs went in the incu. 17 out of 19 eggs successfully hatched then, with all 19 pipping. The last two eggs zippered but failed to complete the hatch. I'm expecting good things this hatch considering how active and wiggly the eggs are.
Sounds like a fun group.

Good luck with it.

Ok, I'm swearing off candling. I made a horrible mistake last night. I thought an egg going into lockdown was dead, so I went to do an eggtopsy, only to find out it was still alive...
Ok maybe not swear off candling, but swear off tossing, unless there is a blood ring or its infertile. And only candle at day 14

Let's see....

Only 4 months old. The collar was working. I took it off to give him a rest from it, and to make sure I don't have it too tight for him as he grows. He crowed today without it, it wasn't as loud! Hope it stays that way. Have seen him breed with the very hen that I want him to. :)
