Two students building a Lego house for our new chicks in the classroom! Oh my goodness!

@Sally Sunshine so far we have one Americauna almost half out, two that could be anything with significant cracking, and two more with pips. They are chirping so loud I can hear them upstairs( they are in the basement). Will post pics of the bator as soon as I can figure out how.

Ok, I'm swearing off candling. I made a horrible mistake last night. I thought an egg going into lockdown was dead, so I went to do an eggtopsy, only to find out it was still alive...
Ok maybe not swear off candling, but swear off tossing, unless there is a blood ring or its infertile. And only candle at day 14
Well, that was almost 24 hours ago... I put it back in because it was still alive. It's still alive!!!! Fingers crossed. Humidity is holding steady at 60%.

I don't know how you guys all keep track of what's been posted! Holy smokes! But after only an hour from pip to now, one of the Americauna chicks is almost out!

I try to wait it out and see if an egg hatches because it can be very hard to tell quitters, particularly toward the end. If you do open an egg, just open the air cell end and if it is alive, you can just put some tape over the hole you made. I have had eggs I was positive were quitters and they ended up hatching so if they don't stink, I leave them till the end! I hope your chick makes it.

Yes! Almost exactly!!! Is that a silkie? What kinda comb are they supposed to have? Assuming definitely NOT that one lol you're not supposed to be able to see it under the fluff, right?
Yep, white silkie! They are supposed to have walnut combs. And the kicker? I can see her comb at 4 weeks... Because she has NO crest. Notta. Not even a tiny one. :barnie
