Spur, Oak, and Snow- A Turkey Roleplay

Hoppy awoke to a sea of glittering white.

He stared around in wide-eyed wonder for many moments. The snow carpeted the landscape as if the frozen grass below had never existed. Everything was white and so so smooth.

Only minutes later did the young turkey process that he was cold as an icicle.

Standing up on legs stiffened by the chill, Hoppy clumsily leapt off of the branch he was perched on.

It was a miracle the young turkey hadn’t been eaten in the night. His chosen branch was exceedingly close to the ground.

Yet Hoppy still managed to fall on his face.

Stumbling to this feet, Hoppy looked around with a slightly dazed expression at the snow and his disgruntled fellow turkeys. After a few more moments of this, he dropped his beak to the snow and started trying to eat it.

Kaede stood there, fluffing her feathers, "Whatever happened?" she asked Slate, looking down at sweet, innocent Noodles.
(Didya get the pun?)
“I was wondering the same thing,” Slate said, referring to the thing he thought was present on everyone’s mind. Normally he wouldn’t open up or speak without being prompted, but this was a special case. His life, his flock’s life depended on a few things, and he had to bring them to the forefront of discussion. Now, in the light of day, he was prepared to discuss them.
“I was just sleeping and suddenly there was just a wall of flame. I don’t know how it happened, but do you think there’s anything left? We should go back and see,” he said anxiously. Any hope for shelter, of the Keepers, of food and safety despite the destruction he had witnessed the night before was all Slate clung to. He’d never known he’d had any hope until he desperately needed it. Until now.

(Warming up Noodles? Pretty clever!) ;)

"Oh no!" Kaede exclaimed, "Do you really think we should go back, Slate?"

Copper practically fell off his perch, a soft thump announcing his presence to any unfortunate enough to be around him. His bossiness was well known, as was the fact that he tended to push around whoever would listen to the disgraced former leader.

Seeing some vulnerable youngsters, Copper set out to bestow his wisdom upon them, pushing aside any turkey in his way. In this time of chaos, it was time for Copper to make his reappearance as a leading member of the flock.

At least, that’s what he thought.

"Oh no!" Kaede exclaimed, "Do you really think we should go back, Slate?"

"How are the other flock members?" She asked Slate, looking around and now shivering.
“I certainly do,” Slate said, wondering why his reasonable idea had evoked such an emotional response. “The other flock members are feeling well,” he said, thinking about Bessy’s confrontational attitude. Well enough to continue asserting their derisive societal roles.

Bessy decided she wouldn’t argue any more with her, it was pointless. And all it would do is make Acorn dislike her even further than she already did. Bessy just nodded and tightened her leash on her temper so it didn’t get out of control and risk aggravating Acorn even more than she already had. Bessy had done a surprisingly good job of getting under the lead hens skin, maybe this crack pot theory of her being next to take over was so crazy after all. Not if maybe acorn didn’t mind her, but at the moment Bessy was pretty sure Acorn didn’t like her at all.
Acorn walked away, satisfied that Bessy had learned her lesson. Unfortunately, she became one of the turkeys Copper shoved out of the way.

“What do you think you’re doing, fluff-for-brains?” she snapped, pecking Copper on the noggin. “You’re plowing broader snow-trails than Bessy!”

When Kaede heard the thump, she turned her head, and stood up straighter, "Oh no..." Kaede huffed, "Good morning Copper." she said, sarcastically.
