Spurs

    Hi, if there are the little bumps on the leg of a chicken is that always male? In other words, do hens ever get little bumps down there on their leg? Thanks

    hens get it too... some oriental game hens can even grow them to a decent size.

    all young birds have them, on boys and some girls they will grow into spurs

    spurs are not a determining factor for sex, wouldn't that make it too easy?

    ETA: there are breeds that are exceptions.
