Squashed shell/egg? - day 19

If you have an incubator, I think that would be best. I don't think it will make it too much longer like that as is under a broody.
The wax might be a good idea if it was just a crack but that egg is crushed.
I would use Vaseline or Neosporin on all of that exposed membrane and then just watch, wait and see if it tries to pip.

Thanks for the advice it is much appreciated, I’ll see how I go. The only thing is that there isn’t much shell left.
To stop the membrane from “shrink wrapping* the chick it will have to be kept moist with Vaseline, coconut oil or something.
You are buying 24 hours of time for the yolk to be fully absorbed into the chick and for the blood in the veins to go into the chick.

Edited to specify the membrane must be kept moist and pliable

How do we know when it’s trying to pip? Is that when the chick starts peeping?

Thanks for everyone’s advice. I don’t have an incubator but I’ll try to give the DIY incubator a go.
I have used just a regular lamp with a light bulb over a plastic basket to finish a hatch before. I covered one side with saran wrap.
I placed a piece of a wet sponge on the side that was covered to help raise humidity. Just don't let anything wet touch the egg.

I don't know if there's any way to try to candle that egg, but I would try and locate where the beak is.
if the beak is underneath some of the shell that's broken I would assume you will see it move when it starts trying to poke a hole. 🤷🏻
