Most states, at least those down here in the south, have LAWS stating that domestic dogs may be shot if caught in the process of "running livestock" much less killing livestock. Government officials aren't required to be called first. This is one of the GOOD points about chickens being considered livestock on the law books. If you don't know your state laws, you had best either keep your mouth tightly shut and/or consult a lawyer on the matter.
paper trail is very important the closer you get to incorporated agricultural cites I know the laws here in the commonwealth of Va I deal with them every day !!
