that is quite a cool hatcher set up you have!

Bee, how did your bator setup work? Did your panels hold up to all the chicks flopping around? What are those panels made of? Looks like something from the craft store.

Congrats everyone! I wouldaposted sooner, but I have cell phone signal issues. (Still!)

I have 5 chicks and 41 or 42 button quail hatched overnight. They're early, bc they actually aren't due 'til tonight. :hmm ine never had n early hatch, mine r always 1-2 days late.

2/5 are EExBuff_Cochin. 3 of the chicks are cochin mixed and 2 are boys. 1 chick hatched yesterday afternoon, so overall it was a great hatch!

Who won the contest for the worst green egg hatch?

Have 11 chicks and 4 ducks in the brooder! One is Ancona, the rest are EEs, including 3 NNs from Funkyfeathers. The ducks are mixed breed.

Only one person posted a picture of thier eggs before the deadline, but they live in Canada, so i cant send eggs the them. Nobody else entered be the deadline, so there is no winner to the Worst green egg hatch contest.

Congrats to all!! I have 8 fuzzies out of 15 eggs. All 15 were alive going into lockdown...8 hatched..1 dead after pipping...6 died sometime between day 18 and today. All were fully developed..and some had completely absorbed the yolk. Not sure what happened but very happy with the 8 that hatched.

Ugh! I've gone almost full out for days with not much time to check in, which I gave up for sleep, then on the go again. Here is my hatching story...
Eggs set for lockdown the evening of the 14th... all (but one, wasn't sure) candled doing well.

My daughter and I both thought we heard a peep... twice, while candling and adding to hatcher. We knew it was to early so figure it was a noisy bird outside who couldn't sleep.
Much to my surprise, first thing the morning of the 15th (day 19) there were two pip's! By the evening, four more pip's and one fuzzy but already hatched. Impatient little thing.
Below, you can see part of it, dark chick, bottom right.
I took this picture of my first Olive Egg hatch.

That was it for the rest of Thursday... two fuzzy butts, four or six pips and I woke up Friday morning to twelve more!

Now it is day 20. I'm wondering why so early.
In the lockdown stage picture showing eggs... five White Rocks hatched (left side, six eggs).
Top, lone egg hatched.

Right, seven of the ten eggs hatched.

Center, olive eggs, four of six hatched but the last one to hatch, yesterday, died today.

Total count 16 of 23 are in the brooder, actively eating and sleeping.

Whew!
Hatcher cleaned, and ready for Wednesday, when duck eggs will go into lockdown. sigh...
Are we having fun yet? Yes, I am, but I do wish I wasn't so buzy and could enjoy watching the hatching more.
