St. Patty's Day Green Egg Hatchalong, Set 2/25

It was bugging me that I couldnt remember where I read it so I tracked it down. It was in Sally Sunshine's Hatching 101 article.

The main reason I was worried about low humidity was I didn't want this batch of eggs to lose too much weight before they get in the incubator. I am setting them with fresher eggs which won't have lost any weight. If my goal is 13% weight loss, it would be difficult for the older eggs to not exceed the 13% if they have already lost a percentage point or two before they are even set. That is assuming of course that I manage the humidity in the incubator to the benefit of my fresher eggs, which I am as they are the more valuable eggs out of those that I am settling. Hopefully this makes sense.

...and yes, I probably am over thinking this whole thing.
That is really interesting. I've never heard this before. I love hatching science. I tend to over think things as well.

So you're setting tomorrow? I think I am too. By the end of today I should have collected 27 green eggs, and that's the maximum I can fit in my Brinsea.

I swear my husband is hiding the green eggs! Lol! I've only gotten 3 since Monday from my 2 EE girls. Hopefully they will both lay all weekend so I have a good number to put under my broody on the 25th!!

Just risked life and limb to go out to the coop. Ice is falling out of the trees like bombs! Well I'm still alive!! I dnt have any chicks yet -ive got 5 eggs under a broody. Maybe tomorrow since it will be much warmer.

Collected 20 eggs but 2 had cracks so I tossed them. I just set 18 more in my incubator, all ready had 25 in there from yesterday. I needed to set a couple days early so they weren't hatching while i was out of state at the latter part of next week.

The majority of them will be olive eggers! I'm so excited about getting some fluffies!!!!

Yup. Setting some local Marans and Barnevelders, and then topping off the incubator with Trader Joe's fertile eggs just for fun. I am using a friend's Hova Bator so I have room for 42. However, my city only let's me have six, so all the extras are going to my friend who owns the bator. It will be REALLY hard to pick just six!

Have 6 beautiful olive eggs to set They are with a splash Marans roo. But I let them out to free range everyday Only a red island red Heritage running loose. So some one could seek in there too. LOL. (if they don't sell)
Have EEs in with the Amerucana roosters The hens lay green, olive and bright blue eggs. Will save them too.
Happy hatching

Just put in my first set ever tonight to hatch! Super egg-Cited!!! There are 18 eggs shipped by mail placed in from an assortment of blue, olive, dark brown and green. Doing this with my son is so fun!

I set my green eggs yesterday. I want to be sure my incubator and brooder are empty when I need them. I will be doing a hatch at a nursing home after this. I also want to know how active and productive my roosters are. It would be awful to try to hatch eggs for these old people and not have a one of them hatch.
