That is really interesting. I've never heard this before. I love hatching science. I tend to over think things as well.It was bugging me that I couldnt remember where I read it so I tracked it down. It was in Sally Sunshine's Hatching 101 article.

The main reason I was worried about low humidity was I didn't want this batch of eggs to lose too much weight before they get in the incubator. I am setting them with fresher eggs which won't have lost any weight. If my goal is 13% weight loss, it would be difficult for the older eggs to not exceed the 13% if they have already lost a percentage point or two before they are even set. That is assuming of course that I manage the humidity in the incubator to the benefit of my fresher eggs, which I am as they are the more valuable eggs out of those that I am settling. Hopefully this makes sense.![]()

So you're setting tomorrow? I think I am too. By the end of today I should have collected 27 green eggs, and that's the maximum I can fit in my Brinsea.
