I got completely frustrated with dogs! So.....this is what I did this weekend (with lots of help)

Excuse the mess, I haven't had time to clean it up yet. Pretty excited though :)

Sorry I haven't posted much. I tried to get some pics of the rooster heads while we were out doing inventory last weekend but none of them turned out well. I did notice that we only have 1 adult LF that has what I would consider more of a dewlap compared to a well developed throat, the bantams for the most part have clean throat lines. I think that is what I consider more of the largefowl look too, so many of the bantams are cobra necked and have dewlaps but the good (in my eyes) largefowl have a clean underline.
This weekend will be busy with a couple local fairs but with luck we will get some head pics posted!

Here are some more beak photos.

Don't know where her light eye came from as her sister is pictured above her

This next one I tried to take a picture of only the beak, didn't work to well but it shows the beak.

When looking at beak length do you start the length at the top edge of the nostril,
bottom corner of the nostril, where it becomes hard horn at the edge of skin? How
deep should the top beak be or the bottom beak. Should the curve of the top beak
be along just the top line of the beak or the entire beak to include the mouth line
and where along the beak should this curve start and end?

I'm sure some of the new folks and me would like to learn this so we know which
beaks are the better ones on our birds.

a few of my bantam cockerels have the dewlap, but one or two dont. I am not sure who I should keep. The ones with the dewlap tend to be redder than the ones without. None of them have extreme makings, but I am wondering if the dewlap is more important than the color?

I wouldn't use the ones with the dewlap, and the redder faces. It was discussed that the dewlap is not right in the sumatras on here and on the other sumatra thread, and you want the faces to be gypsy. If you could put up pictures of your birds, the people here could help you choose which birds would help your breeding program move forward. As there is more to it than just no dewlap and face color. Good luck with your birds and welcome to the thread.
