meanwhile with Ruth, one year after being found by Nicholas.

Ruth looked to Nicholaus quietly watching him. Nicholaus finished paper work, they founded Ruth on a centaurian ship and decided to keep her to help with paperwork, waiting till she was 'of age' to sell off to the rukes. Ruth stepped up to take the finished paperwork, watching him "You want these filed with the others?" She asked. "Yes please Ruth... How old are you now?" He asked. "I will be 20 in a month" Ruth replied and waited a moment to see if there would be any other questions. "Five more years then your grown, correct?"
Ruth nodded "Yes sir" she said, waiting patiently for any other questions, before filing the papers away. "Okay, you are freed to finish filing." Ruth dipped her head and turned to go to the filing room. When she had filed the papers, she let herself think of what the questions could mean for her and her future. There was not anything else for her to do and she was freed to walk the grounds. Ruth wandered away, eventually ending up outside. Another female was out there, quietly reading a book. Ruth paused when she saw the female. She looked up, "Hello." She said softly, she was a type of hybrid. "Hello" Ruth said softly
"You were in the filing room, no?" "Yes" Ruth answered "I file the papers for Nicholaus." "Ah.." She said softly, her face darkening at his name. Ruth tilted her head "Don't you do the same thing here?" "no.."
"Oh" Ruth said softly. "Yeah." she said softly, "I am just a entertainer..." She mumbled. Ruth watched her quietly a moment then moved closer "I get to help with the filing until I'm 'of age' and then I get sold off, most likely to a ruke"
"Ah, poor you." She said. Ruth shrugged, "At least I get the five years until then, I could of already been there." She shivered slightly at the memory of the night her parents had been killed. "True." She sighed. Ruth sighed softly and looked back to the female. "..Can you write?" She asked softly. Ruth nodded "Yes" "Lucky." she said Ruth tilted her head a little "You want to learn?" "Please!"
Ruth grinned, then glanced to the house "Do you think they would mind, or should we keep it a secret?" "secret."
Ruth nodded, then paused "Weren't you reading when I came out here?" She asked "I can read, but not write.." "Well, that will make it much easier" Ruth said and lay down, clearing a patch of dirt and picking up a stick to use as a drawing tool. "If it wasn't a secret we could use paper, but for now the dirt and a stick." She wrote a word in the dirt "Just follow the lines and tell me what it says." she said handing over the stick. She looked at the word, and slowly copied it. Ruth watched her with a gentle smile. She shakily did the words, but had a big smile on her face. Ruth looked up to her "That is great" She said encouragingly
"Really?" Ruth nodded "Really. Use the words from your book and practice" She said writing another word in the dirt. "Okay." She looked up at the sond of laughter, and quickly hid the words ans stood up, head lowered. Ruth stood, looking to the laughter, then looking down to make sure there was no trace of their words left in the dirt. They walked by, the female was clearly thankful they didn't notice her. Ruth glanced to them, then back to her and smiled. She sighed in relief. "Your name is, Ruth, right?" She asked. Ruth nodded "Yes, I'm Ruth. You are?" "They call me Ginger." Ruth smiled "Nice to officially meet you, Ginger." "Same, Ruth."
Ruth glanced to the house, then back to Ginger "So, what do you want to do now?" "walk?" She asked. "Sure" Ruth said "You lead." She said.
"Alright" Ruth said and set off, walking along the path. Ruth turned away from the path, glancing back at Ginger who followed. Ruth turned to follow the fenceline, it was much quieter out here away from the paths. She sighed softly and looked to Ginger "What do you like to do?" "Read."
Ruth smiled, "Yeah, reading can take you to so many places, even though you never leave where you are. Anything else?" "Um, a little sewing." She answered
Ruth shook her head "I am terrible at sewing" "I am good, I guess." she said.
Ruth laughed softly "Yeah, Mom always said I didn't pay enough attention" She stopped, blinking quickly "I really miss her." "I, I don't remember mine." Ginger said softly. Ruth gave her a sad smile "I'm sorry" She nodded. Ruth sighed and looked around. Ginger watched a herd of sheep run by. Ruth turned to watch the sheep also. Herders brought them by, a lamb broke loose. Ruth watched the lamb, it ran their way, Ginger eyes widened.
Ruth flicked her tail and moved to turn the lamb back to the herd. It ran away from her, back to the herd. The head herder nodded his thanks. Ruth nodded back and turned to Ginger with a smile, then turned to watch the sheep and herders move along further.
Ginger looked at the sky, "Oh, no. I have to head back." Fear was crystal clear in her eyes as she turn to run back. Ruth watched her go, then walked slowly returning to the house. Ginger wasn't seen for days later. Ruth wondered what had happened to her. She was by now hiding her her 'spot' a small part of the garden few went to.Ruth wandered the gardens when she wasn't filing papers for Nicholaus. Soft crying was heard, and Ruth moved to the sound. Ginger was behind a bush, bruising all over her body could be seen. "Ginger" Ruth said softly, kneeling beside her. She jumped, scurrying away like a mouse to the stone wall. "It's just me, Ruth." She said staying in place. She looked at her, "p-please go.." Ruth winced and stood "Is this because we talked?" She asked even as she moved away, circling the bushes to stand on the other side
She didn't reply, curling away from her. Ruth sighed softly "Alright, you know where to find me" She walked away slowly. Ruth wandered around the garden, then moved off the paths again, thinking quietly.
Shadows seem to darken here and there...
Ruth stopped and looked around, then took a step back, uncertainly. "You can notice that? Interesting." A voice seem to smirk. Ruth froze in place then looked around "Who's there?" she asked and sent a quick glance to the house. "Oh, a ghost." "A ghost?" Ruth questioned, brows drawing together
"In a sense." he answered. Ruth took a step forward "How in a sense?" A shadowy form appeared. "Just because" Ruth blinked, watching the shadow form "Oh. Why show yourself to me?" "Ah, your a centaur, no wonder you can see me." Ruth nodded "Why would that make a difference?" she asked curiously "I never saw any ghosts on Centauria" "Your eyesight is, special."
Ruth tilted her head a little "If you say so" she shrugged. He smirked, seeming to fade....
Ruth watched him "Where are you going?" "Away for now." "Oh" Ruth said softly "Are you going to come back?" "of course." he answered. Ruth smiled "Alright, see you later then" He made plans for this one, so gullible.
Ruth turned to walk away, thinking. He watched in the shadows. Ruth wandered the grounds, eventually going back to the house. Ginger was quietly cleaning the hallway by then. Ruth slowed when she saw Ginger and lightly bit her lip
She didn't look at her. Ruth sighed softly and continued on to her room.
After a while ginger quietly knocked on her door. "Come in" Ruth called, raising her head from her book. She quietly walked in. "Ginger" Ruth smiled, setting the book aside. "S-sorry about earlier.."Ginger said "That's alright...Was it because of me?" Ruth asked softly. "...Yes." She admitted.Ruth looked down "I am sorry" She quietly sat down. Ruth looked up "I saw a ghost today" "A what?"
"A ghost" Ruth said "He was more like moving shadows that could speak than anything else I had ever seen before." Centaurian sight is special, you can see things others cant" Ruth nodded "That's what he said" She frowned and looked out her window "I never saw a ghost before, it was strange" "What was it like?"
"Like shadows. Moving, talking shadows, then he faded away. He said he would be back" She frowned "If he does I am asking for a name. Calling him 'he' all the time is odd, too" "Sounds creepy.." Ginger said."Yeah it was, especially at first" Ruth replied "It must be... What did it look like?" she asked. "I'm not sure, he was just a shadowy form" Ruth said, shrugging. "Interesting."
Ruth shrugged and grinned "Yeah" "I heard rumors this place was haunted." She admitted. Ruth's eyes widened "Oh, great. So I might see others, too?"
"Yea." She admitted. "Oh" Ruth said softly and looked out the window again, thinking "I wonder if they are nice" "I heard some might be.."
"Might be?" Ruth questioned, then shook her head "Why would they wait a year for even the one to show himself?" "Depends, they might be lurknig, I have seen some weird stuff happen around here... doors opening, that sorta thing.."
Ruth though about it and nodded slowly "Yeah, I suppose so"
"From my understanding the ghost are those who previously owned the place.."
"I have never heard about them" Ruth said. "Lucky."
Ruth tilted her head "I take it they weren't good stories"
"No they are not." Ruth nodded "I will keep that in mind"
Ruth shook her head and stared out the window again, unsure of what to say now. "Hungry?" ginger mumbled. Ruth turned and smiled again "Yeah, you?" She asked and stood up. She nodded, "I'll bring you some food."
Ruth nodded slowly "Are you... I mean can you be seen around me? Or was it just the drawing in the dirt?" "No, I don't want to risk it." She softly.
Ruth nodded "Alright" She said softly then glanced up at her again "I don't want you getting in trouble because of me." "What do you want?" She asked.
"What do I want? I want my parents to be alive. I want to know whether or not my brother and sister are alive, and where they are. I want to be able to have a friend and not have to worry about their safety or my own. As far as food, it doesn't matter" Ruth said and turned away, closing her eyes and hugging herself tightly.
"I..I meant food..." She whisper softly, "I know what you truly want... What many females like us want.." "Home" Ruth said very softly, then nodded still with her eyes closed, remembering. Ginger nodded. Ruth turned to her and smiled, it was almost a perfect imitation of a real smile. "Don't do anything to get yourself in trouble Ginger, I already consider you a friend, and I don't want my friends to be hurt." "I already am in trouble." She said softly, getting up.
Ruth looked at her curiously "Anything I can help with?" she asked softly
"No." Ruth nodded and dropped her head. She glanced up again "You will let me know if I can help, won't you?"

Ginger went to get her food, soon coming back. Ruth opened her door, smiling at Ginger. She quietly brought the food in. "How well do you know the gardens?" Ruth thought a moment "Well enough to find my way around. Why?"
"There are... Places we can safely meet at.. " She said softly. Ruth smiled "Where?" "I'll leave clues." She nodded. "Alright" Ruth said and turned to the table "Will you join me, or do you have to go?" "I have to go.." Ruth sighed softly, then smiled "Alright, so I guess I'll see you later." Ginger left and Ruth ate her dinner in silence.
The next day Ruth went to see if Nicholas needed her for anything. Brutus saw Ruth. "Ah it's the little pony. He in a meeting dollface you'll have to wait our here." Ruth stopped and looked to Brutus, then stepped back quietly, looking down. An hour pasted and the meeting ended, it was clear everyone was ticked.
Ruth watched them, but kept her head down so it wouldn't look like she was.
Nicholas saw her, "Yes?" He growled. Ruth jumped a little at the growl, then pulled out an envelope "This came for you" she said softly. He arrched a brow and took it. Brutus stayed quiet. Nicholas looked at him, "IS2 has a new owner." HE snorted. "Who?" Brutus asked. "I thought Castle was set what the heck happened?" "Info fuzzy, but ones of the smugglers, Gorgon I believe, took over, here the report we got so far." He handed him the tablet. Ruth held her hands in front of her, waiting to be dismissed or sent to do something. Brutus kinda pushed Ruth back because she had gotten in the way. "Gordon he is antislave... but I thought he kept to himself?" "Same, but looks like he getting high and mighty." He snorted. Ruth stood quietly, letting herself be forgotten as she listened to the two. "I say we take advantage of this.. open our own IS a s a replacement hub. All the dealers will flock to it. Good for business." Brutus suggested. "Maybe even get more of these sweet little things to sell to the Rukes. They pay well for them." He snagged Ruth's arm and brought her around.
"Agree." Nicholas remarked. Ruth gasped softly when Brutus grabbed her arm
"We have the moon station. We could build that up?" Brutus loked Ruth over. "You know you are pretty cute." He smirked then released her. Nicholas nodded as he opened the letter, "We could, gonna have to up security though." Ruth swallowed and backed away again when she was released. Brutus sighed. "Yes... we could have the dealers agree to a security deposit... or look into a partner for hire." He shrugged. "But once its all done the money flow will be quite high. Have an idea who you want to call in?" "A few." He remarked, "Might sell her there too while at it, she old enough." He snorted. Ruth shivered as she listened to them talk. "Yes.. getting pretty in the face starting to fill in the fur. They pay more then." He smirked. "I'll have Gork get a list of assets put together." He nodded, "Think I'll sell ginger off too." He retorted. Ruth stood with her head down, listening but trying to appear not to be. "Your son will have plenty to sell." Brutus looked down at Ruth. "Why are you still here?" Ruth jumped and looked towards Nickolas "Nicholas has not dismissed me" She said softly. "You are dismiss." He retorted. Ruth left the room, heading for the garden, she wanted to talk to Ginger.

The day came when they were to be taken to be sold off, Ruth was wandering the gardens again. Ginger was hiding, she knew what was coming. A guard went to get Ruth, and a few others searched for Ginger. "Run" a voice whispered in the air to her. The guard spotted her, "mare stop." He ordered. Ruth shivered, standing undecided for a moment before she bolted. The guard growled, and commed for help. Ruth looked around, wondering where she could go. "right" the voice said. Ruth turned right, trusting the voice. Brutus saw Ruths tail flush by and furrowed his brows. He stalked over to see them. "Hey!" Ruth ran, waiting for another direction from the ghost. "jump" it forewarned as a high fence came into view. The guards cursed. Ruth's eyes widened as she saw the fence come into view, then she put on a burst of speed so she could jump the fence. She was barely able to clear it and stumbled a little when she landed, coming to a stop and glancing back before she started to run again. The guard cursed as they were force to stop or run into the fence. "The mare is making a run for it, heading to the forrest." One growled over the comm. Ruth looked to the forest ahead, running and waiting for the ghost again, since she didn't know her way around it. "keep going, a little father.." Ruth nodded and kept running, starting to pant a little. A overgrown building was seen, "Here." Ruth turned to it, slowing as she approached it. She looked for a way inside. A person seemed to be standing in the light, "Your safe here... Help is coming. If they get here in time..." it said softly. Ruth stopped and looked at the person "What about the tracker?" "It may or may not work here, I do not know." Ruth shivered, if she was captured after running away she thought and shivered again, looking around the building. Ruth thought of Ginger and hoped she had been able to get away as well. Someone touched Ruth's shoulder. "Are you lost?" He asked kindly. Ruth jumped a little and turned to him "I was led here. Who are you?" "A friend.... come." he held out a hand. Ruth took his hand hesitantly "Where are we going?"
"Somewhere safe." He said. "Can you turn the tracker off?" Ruth asked. He took her into a room then put a device over where her tracker was. "This will jam it." He said. "We must move quickly." Ruth nodded "Can you tell me, did you find Ginger, or know if she got out too?" "I can't say anything...." He took her hand and went into another room and then into an alley. "We are almost to your exit." Ruth nodded and followed his lead, quietly to where a ship waited for them. Ruth looked at the ship, then back to the male. "Come on." A female said to her, "We gotta go if you want to be free." Ruth nodded and glanced back the way they had come before getting on the ship. The female started the ship up.
Ruth watched her "Have you found Ginger yet?" She asked softly. "The other female slave? No." Ruth frowned and nodded, then looked around the ship from where she was standing. She took a deep breath, hoping she had made the right choice. The ship headed to take off. "Hopefully Sal the other will be able to get the other female." The female said to the male that had lead Ruth here.

Brutus listened to the comm. then Went to Nicklaus. "Someone has to be running interference. Ken's family your grandson A handful of slaves slipping past the guards." Nicholas snarled, "I want everyone scanned." He growled, "Have they found Ginger yet?"
Brutus shook his head no. "No I suspect she is among them." He put the order in for colony wide scans. "Maybe they will lead us to Alex." Ginger curled up in her hiding place, listening as the guards searched for her. Blood drip from were she removed the tracker from her leg. The guy that had helped Ruth snuck in and found Ginger. "I am the guy your waiting for. "This way." She nodded at him, the guards spotted them. He placed the device to block the tracker on her. "We're had guys. pull us out." He grunted in his comm. Brutus wasn't far from that location. She tried to, but it was being funky. "Come on Ginger." He yanked her to follow. then started to run. Brutus came around the corner as they did. "Well well well Ginger.. you have been a bad girl." Fear were in her eyes, her legs seem to freeze. "I got her." The male stated. "I was going to take her to Nicklaus." "No. I will she needs to be.. punished first." Brutus cracked his knuckles. "I thought he wanted to see her right away." The male stood his ground. Brutus furrowed his brows. "You don't out rank me here. Hand her over Jim." Jim glared. "I happen to respect females. I will take her to Nicklaus." Brutus stepped aside. "Then do. I will go with you." Ginger was heavily panting as the icy fear spread over her, blood slowly caked in lines from were she had remove the tracker. She knew she was in it. Jim led her towards central. He hoped they would just teleport her out of his hands at some point. Brutus saw the men that were scanning for extra signal usage and smirked. "We suspect we have people helping our slaves escape.. what do you think about that Jim?" Jim Shrugged. "I don't own slaves so I don't care. I am just a raider like you. But yeah if they are it bugs me they are trespassing." Brutus commed Nicklaus that they had Ginger and their location. Nicklaus had a ship ready to transport her and a few other slaves. He wanted Jim on this on. Jim showed no physical signs of remorse for taking her there. Just wasn't about to let Brutus get a hold of her. But inside is was upset that he had failed to save her. "Got your runaway." He brought her on the ship. He did slip his own peoples tracker on her. but it was passive. Ginger curled up in the corner, her light blue eyes full with fear. Jim took a seat and leaned back. The ship took off. Brutus sent another guy to call Jim away. Jim reluctantly left Ginger. Brutus came in and approached her. "Hello dear.. tell me did you have help escaping?" He reached down and put a finger under her chin. She jerked her head away. Brutus grabbed her jaw and kissed her. "You know what will happen if you lie to me so I suggest you tell me now." Ginger glowered at him, saying something in a unknown language. "Did someone help you or not?" Brutus demanded of Ginger. "No." she said crossly, even if a telepath scanned her it would be impossible to tell if she was lying. "No." Ginger said coldly. He shrugged. "Have it your way." He tried to kiss her again. She kicked him were it would count. Brutus collapsed a tad then smacked her hard in the face. "That's it." He grabbed her legs and flipped her on her back. "Did someone help you?"

this next part deviates a bit, but it will all come together soon enough.

this is all basically a first draft, and would probably turn into a series with each book being about one of the characters.
(i like that idea)

Ulric was born to Chrystal, a centaurian mare and Randolf, a mermeruke. He has one brother, Hugh, and one sister, Leila, from the same parents. Chrystal had been rescued while pregnant with Hugh and Leila, but Ulric was left behind with his father. Chrystal died while giving birth to Hugh and his twin sister, Leila. Randolf raised Ulric to be able to be a spy in centauria for him. Ulric had a knack for being unseen even among the rukes. He was able to find out all kinds of information and relate it back to his father. Once Randolf felt the colt was old enough he made sure Ulric was found and taken by the infringement to be sent to Chrystal's family. It was only then that he found out that Chrystal had died giving birth to twins. Ulric spent a lot of time with his younger siblings, learing all he could about them and their Centaurian family. What he learned helped him to fit in with the culture enough to be overlooked.
He spent the next few years learning everything he could to become a trader, while his brother, Hugh, worked to learn what he needed to become a member of infringement. Hugh became friends with another half-ruke named Colin. The two soon started to make plans to form their own group within infringment and found others to join them. Hugh moved to Bali when he met Danika after rescueing her from the rukes. After courting her for a while, and getting her family's blessing, they married. Soon after Dylan was born, he was a rambunchious and mischivious colt who enjoyed teasing others when he had the chance to. After Dylan was five, Danika had Kira. Kira followed Dylan around when she was old enough, watching her brother and trying to do as he did, though she was too shy to speak as he did.
Leila was the only one of the siblings that wanted to stay on their gandsire's ranch to run it, so she did. Leila learned all she could under her grandsire so the ranch could continue to run smoothly. She married, but remained childless. Her husband was killed in an accident on the farm.
Ulric changed his career, starting a delivery business. He found that he could go more places, without being questioned so much. Eventually he married a centaurian mare, Alia. She bore him twins, Ella and Roger. When the twins were eight, Alia died trying to give birth to another set of twins, but they came too soon and both of them died as well. Ulric sent Ella and Roger to his brother for the summer as he had since they were born, only this time they did not have Alia to go with them. He visited Earth as he had each summer, giving what information he had to his father. Randolf looked to Ulric "I want to see my grandfoals next time you come, Ulric. You can not hide them behind your wife anymore." Ulric sighed and nodded "I will bring them with me next summer." He said and returned to his route.
The next summer Ulric told his twins that they were going to come with him instead of visiting their uncle and cousins. Ella was more excited to go than Roger. Roger liked to be on the ground instead of in space. Ella loved to be in space, learing and seeing new things.

Ulric took his twins to Earth to meet with their gandsire, telling them his past as they went. He made sure both understood that no one on Centauria could know about their relationship to the rukes, or how close he was to his father. He sighed "If they know that I come to see my father, they will take you away from me." He told the two. "I have tried to keep you seperated from him, but now that your mother is gone, I cannot anynore." It was a long trip to get to Earth, and they had plenty of time to get used to the idea of having a ruke grandsire, as well as the fact that their father was a spy for his father.
They docked and waited for the cargo to be unloaded before venturing out to find Randolf, the chief of this ruke village. They stayed close to their father as they entered the village, looking around in wonder. Ulric led them to his father's tent, opening the flap and entering with them. "Randolf, meet Ella and Roger, my foals." Ella looked to Randolf, her curiosity letting her meet his eyes with her own. Roger shifted closer to Ulric, watching Randolf quietly.
"She's a bold one, Isnt's she" Randolf said, grinning at Ella. He looked to Roger and raised and eyebrow "But he isn't." Ella smiled back at Randolf as Roger hid further behind Ulric. "Roger is shy when he meets new people, he will warm up soon enough." Ulric replied.
"Come here" Randolf said to Ella, watching the filly as she came closer to him. He grabbed her chin and forced her to look directly at him "A female should always keep her eyes down, never look a male directly in the eyes, unless you want trouble." he said and released her. "Yes, sir" Ella said and dropped her head, watching him through her lashes. "Good girl, you might be able to be taught to be a good spy for me, too." Randolf said and looked to Roger "Come here, boy" Roger glared at Randolf for touching Ella so roughly. He gulped and came forward slowly. He stepped out of reach when Randolf reached to grab his chin. Randolf stepped forward and grabbed his arm, half-lifting Roger "You are quick, aren't you. I can use that too." He grinned and released the boy, looking to his son. "You may go, Ulric. Come back in a week to pick them up. I will start their training myself."
Ulric wanted to protest, but was too well trained. He knew if he did not do as Randolf said now, the twins would be kept here indefinatly. Finally he nodded "Let me say goodbye to them, and I will go" Ulric said. Randolf nodded and directed him to his old room. "They will sleep here, in your old room" Randolf said and returned to the main room.
"Father?" Ella said, questioning his reactions. Roger frowned "Your going to leave us here?" he asked softly. Ulric sighed "If I don't he will keep you until you are fully trained to his ways. If I leave you now, as he wishes, I can pick you back up in one week. I don't want to leave you at all, but I would like to be able to come to get you in a week instead of waiting until you are brought home by infringement in...however many years that would take."
Ella nodded, understanding the position he was now in. "I'll be alright" Roger shook his head at the explanation "Why can't you just take us back home now?" Ella sighed and looked to Roger "Cause gandsire will hurt him, or us if he tries to." She looked to Ulric "Right, father?" Ulric nodded, "He would take me and hold me somewhere, then go after Hugh and Leila and their families. You have a quick mind Ella, use it and learn all you can. Roger, you are fast, but you need to work on your patience. Don't let anything Randolf does or says cause you to fight him. I will be back in a week to pick you up. I love you both." He said and hugged the two before walking away and going to his ship.

Roger and Ella returned to Randolf to begin their training. By the time their father came at the end of the week, they had both learned a lot, both now knew how to watch and learn all they could from those around them as well as how to comunicate that information back to Randolf. Ulric watched the two as he entered the tent to reclaim them. He knew they would no longer be the carefree foals he had raised, they were now set on a path even he had never found a way to escape from. He held out his hands and gave them a small smile as they came to him "Say bye to your grandsire, we have to go." Ulric told the two.
"Bye" Ella and Roger said together and went with their father to return to the ship. Once they were back in space and on their way home they spoke about the week they had spent on earth, and the repricussions of meeting Randolf. All three were knocked unconcious as a gas filled the ship. That was followed by a mixture of Earth air and corbian gas before it returned to the normal air they were supposed to have on their ship. Ulric was first to wake. He looked to his twins and checked on them, breathing a sigh of relief as he determined they were still alive. He went to the bridge to check their location and find out what had happened to them. "Father" He growled as he went over the ships records. Randolf had had one of his people set up a trap for them. They could of died from this, but now they would get the 'gifts' that corbian gas and earth air gave those who survived breathing it. He sighed and returned to Roger and Ella, carrying them to their beds.
"What happened?" Ella asked as she was set in her bed. She sat up and looked around before her gaze returned to her father. "Randolf has done his best to change us. He added a canister of corbian gas and Earth air to the ship's circulation, timing it so we would be on our way home before it went off." Ulric admitted and looked to Roger, seeing him sitting up in his bed, listening. "Now we will see what powers we get from it, since we have survived it." He nodded at their looks of astonishment and fear. "Yes, it can be deadly. You have heard the stories and know some of what the gas can do to us." Ella and Roger nodded, thinking of the stories of powers given through the gas. They looked to eachother, wondering what would happen to them.

Ella found out she had recieved the ability to generate force fields around her. She liked this new ability and practiced with it every time she could get alone.
Roger was given the ability to become intangible, 'ghosting' through walls and anything else he tried. He practiced with Ella and Ulric, whenever he could.
Ulric received the ability to control technology and used his new gift to make their family rich enough to hire others to do the actual delivery and pick ups. He kept his ship just for his family to use, taking them on many trips to many planets, and using the time on-board to practice their gifts and train the twins as
he had been trained.
The years passed and Ella and Roger grew up, eventually being given their own ship to use as a delivery ship or just to take them wherever they wished to go. Ella became captain of the Endurance, her only crew member was Roger. Roger made a vow that he would not allow Ella to travel with anyone else but him, at least until she was married. He hoped marriage would settle her wanderlust, but he doubted it. While they were out studying a newly found planet they received word that Hugh had been killed. They returned to find out that the news was already weeks old, and the trail cold. They asked Ulric to keep them informed of any new information. Ella sighed and went to Centauria's Larkspur city to explore what had changed over the time they had been gone.

"What do you want to do first?" Ella asked Roger as they exited their ship.
Casey stumbled over a rock, and almost bumped right into Roger. "Sorry!" She sheepishly backed away. Roger turned to Casey "It's alright, you are not hurt, are you?" He asked kindly. Ella turned to see who was speaking. "No. I'm alright. Thank you for asking." Casey dusted her shirt off, and started picking up the pieces of wood she'd dropped. Roger bent to help her "I'm Roger, by the way. That's my sister Ella" He said smiling at the mare charmingly. Ella shook her head, looking around "And he wonders why I am captain" She muttered softly.
"I'm Casey. Nice to meet you." She blinked up at him gratefully, and smiled.
"Nice to meet you, too. Need any help with this?" Roger asked. "If you don't mind. My brother was supposed to come to town today with me, but he had to help a friend," she explained. Roger smiled "I don't mind" He said "Lead the way" Casey nodded. She headed back to their farm; the piece of land was easily 100+ acres, divided into wide green pastures, where cows grazed and chickens pecked about. There was a huge barn and chicken coop; the chicken coop was new, but the barn was old and was beginning to rot. Mountains smudged the outline of the horizon.
"Big place" Roger said and set the wood down, looking around "Can see why you needed new wood, this needs replacing." He said
Elle looked around silently, waiting for Roger.
Casey nodded. "It's been needing to be worked on for a while. Blake and I have been putting it off. Can you help me take down these stalls?"
"Sure" Roger said, smiling. Elle shook her head, smiling at her brother, then went to pitch in "I suppose you will be wanting to raise a new barn next, Roger?" She said on a smile
Casey smirked slightly as she got a saw and a hammer out of Blake's toolbox. It had a code, but Casey had given it to him as a birthday gift a year ago, so she knew what it was. It was huge; it had nifty little compartments for each type of tool, and little metallic drawers that could pop out, which were perfect for holding screws and bolts and such. It was the perfect toolbox.
Roger whistled, seeing the toolbox "Now that is a toolbox, Ella" He said grinning at his sister. Ella sighed "Yeah, yeah. Great hint. Get busy." Ella said shaking her head and smiling.
Casey bit back a snicker at the two of them. They seemed to interact with each other in a similar fashion that Casey and Blake did. Casey began to saw down some of the boards and timbers.Elle glanced to Casey and smiled, she helped with the sawing. Roger smiled as he started to take apart the stalls.
After a few hours, they had done a lot of work, which was surprising. The barn looked much neater. Casey drilled new doors onto the stalls, and put in the fresh shavings. They would call in an electrician to get the lights and wiring done.
Elle and Roger looked around the barn "Much better" Roger said
Casey nodded in agreement. "My brother and I can finish up tomorrow."
Roger walked over to Casey "It was nice meeting you, maybe we will see eachother again, sometime" Ella smiled and nodded "See you around, Casey" She said walking out of the barn, then waiting on Roger as she looked to the sky
Roger and Elle started walking back to the town, and their ship after he had said his goodbys. Roger and Ella had returned to their ship to clean up and check for messages for any new jobs.
