Started my chicken coop today!!!! Pic Heavy (maybe)

In my opinion venting a dryer into your coop would be the worst thing you could do in cold weather. Dryer exhaust is extremely moist air and when temperatures drop moisture in the coop is your worst enemy. Frostbite is a direct result of high moisture in cold temperatures. Perhaps Patandchickens or Gsim have a comment on the subject.

Question: What was used as a base under the pallets that make up the floor?

Observations: Either an economical efficient use of space, or a stealth coop, or both. Chooks will not get too cold in this coop.

I think Boston3381 meant just the hole for the vent with a vent cover on it, not actually venting the dryer. The hole would let heat from the house into the coop.

I can't wait for more pics!

The pallets already had "feet" on them on the bottoms, then to make it level the boys added pieces of wood to the "feet". Then we broke the pallets apart and layed another layer on the pallets in a design pattern to look neat, so the floor is two layers pallets and another layer of pallets for looks and leveling. It is mostly scrap wood, we did have to buy the 2x6's and 2x10's.

These pallets were for moving stacks of paper, the lady told me

Not to put a damper on your parade, but... In the photo it shows a chimney exhaust for your furnace. Your roof of the chicken structure is right next to it... the furnace gas exhaust will enter the chicken coop vents there and will allow the carbon monoxide to extinguish the chickens' lives. also the accumulated carbon monoxide gases from inside the chicken house may enter your house through that window, not to mention through the crawl space door to under your house... that will not be too beneficial to your health. It is more than likely in violation to the State health codes. A chicken house attached to your residence quite possibly is also in violation of the State health codes. My suggestion would be to relocate this poultry abode before it's completion.

I cann't wait for pics either but the wayy i see it it's pointless to heat it if you dont insulate it well. Just wasting heat from your house.

Usually when that happens…it’s the boy kitty and everyone has to leave the house while holding our noses and lighting matches.
