Starting a Fodder adventure

Info snagged from the net.
  • Sprouting improves the enzyme content, making it more easily digested than grains; after sprouting, a grain becomes 40-50% more digestible to the bird, which means that they are getting more nutrition and fiber than from the same amount of unsprouted grain
  • Sprouts are loaded with chlorophyll and beta-carotene, resulting in darker yolks and arguably, more nutritious eggs.

sorry about the wait for morning update i wasn't paying attention uploading photos and had to put everything in the correct folders... takes alot longer when you accidentally misfile something lol.

anyways i Fed XP1 to the chickens this morning they were very stand offish which i expected cause they always are with a new snack. by tomorrow they will run at me for it lol. i usually give them warm oatmeal on this really cold days and they gobble it up in no time maybe ill make a small batch to go with the fodder. that is if they haven't tried the sprouts.

I grow microgreens in 10" x 20" flats for the people in the family, so I also grow some for the chickens - wheat, lentils, millet/sunflower seed bird seed, and peas. I just ordered some barley to try that. I haven't done the sprouting in the jars because I already have things set up for the microgreens. Has anyone done both? I saw that Amazon has little sprouting trays that stack on top of each other. I was wondering if that would be even easier than growing the microgreens. The chickens just love, love, love the stuff!
