I cut mine up like rice crispy treats with green on top to get it out of the tray. Then chop it up so they can eat it without any crop problems.

I've heard "crop problems" mentioned several times. What kind of problems? Do the roots ball up if they swallow a huge mouthful and cause crop problems or choking? Why do you cut it up when feeding? More for everyone?

Too many long plant leaves, gorged too quickly can clog the crop.

So when you feed this, you just put it out? Is there any preperation necessary? I read here that some people chop it up or only feed the leaves. I have no experience with this so just wondering the hows/whats/whys

i have been breaking it up a bit and putting it in an old washed out folgers coffee can. set the can in the usual spot i give treats. the whole thing including the seeds can be fed to the chickens.
the reason i break it up is i figured it'll make it easier to digest for them. i just rip it up a bit, but i tried cutting it and it works well enough considering i had no problem getting through it with a butter knife. no prep just pop out of jar and feed. i would break it up a bit though as i said.
