Starting from Scratch....Columbian Cochin Bantams

Presuming the columbian colour discussed is the same colour as light Sussex & light Brahmas, the white their case caused by silver. I imagine the white of white cochins is recessive white. Just about anything could be underneath recessive white which tends to make it not the best colour for outcrossing.

Hmm So we need something like a Silver Cochin type? Or I wonder about a black? I think we are going to have to have a few experiments in Genetics here.

You could do it with what you've got. I was just saying that they are probably two different types of white & that would need to be taken into consideration. Recessive white covers only when homozygous. Dominant white covers black related colours only...(slightly lightens colour when homozygous, I think). Silver is incompletely dominant to gold & is sex linked. Reds other than sex linked gold may leak through silver slightly, I think, even when homozygous.

Well I had white cochin bantams coming soon so I panicked a little. I hope it would work that way

If not...I guess I will enjoy some white cochins and some mutts
