Starting incubator

I candled and definitely had 14 unfertilized eggs out of 32 (or the fridge eggs did not work). Two were iffy so I left them in for 3 more days to see if it is just a blood ring. so 16 out of 32 not bad if they all hatch and live !! More prayers for little ones please !!

16 for old eggs is good!

I didn't think eggs that were a month and in the fridge would even be fertile anymore. If you want to store eggs for incubating, you have to keep the eggs at room temperature and turn thrm atleast once a day. Once eggs aRe a week old, put them into the incubator, as fertility will start to drop at this age. Best of luck on your hatch!

Long term storage after a week kind of works in the fridge. The eggs need to be stored big end down though.

It is not ideal and a lot of eggs will not develop though. It is best to set egg that have been stored at room temp, tilted and the turned several times a day. Two weeks is kind of a maximum for those

OK now I'm confused. If using eggs for food, we store pointy tip down. When resting fertilized eggs, we should store them fat side down? What do we do, then, when putting them into an incubator tip side down? Turn and rest for a few hours prior or.....?

Hey I am new at this. There is TMI on the internet so I tried. I wasted a dozen eggs or so.

Now for an update : OMG ! I just heard my little hatching chicks "peeping" from their shell. They are starting to "hatch" from the incubator !
