Ah, sorry, was not online for a few days, been busy. Lol @ "hanging by a thread".

Nah, I've never traveled abroad, why do you ask? Met another kook like me somewhere? ;)

Quote: Ok, will do!

About breeds, I think my position with "mongrelizing" them is unpopular enough as compared to maintaining purebreds that purebreds aren't under any significant threat from the likes of me, but I don't know what the situation is there. Maybe a lot more people are breeding crossbreds and mongrels than I know? I have read in books that some purebreds are under threat from crossbreeders but in practice I've not met more than a few people who cross breeds as compared to those who only breed pure.

People that cut me down or are against my opinion don't get to me. What irritates me is when I post a new thread and it doesn't get replied to. Especially if I write a lot on it.

Edit: I don't really push or even tell my opinions to people any way. I suppose I have never got into a thread where I have had an opinion on it.

Hey Lucas, I have started a few threads on here, some I thought would be quite popular, like our black Swans in the wild and incubation counting, and they dried up on the first page!

Others I have started have bloomed well, particularly our own chicken adventure, which is now about 200 pages long all about what we have experienced as a backyarder family.

I think getting about is good too, building repal with other members. I like to hang out in the gender forum and have a friendly guess at other peoples questions. I have learned much in there and even jump in when I think I have a shot. I also follow many of the emergency help threads, sometimes I can offer something and others I am learning.

I think people see posts in those areas, see my signature links and wander over for a read.

Being from Australia international members often have questions, as I have questions about other places.

As you know I also like to hang out in the Aussie thread, but two was too many and one I kind of feel like an outside from, so I read a lot and don't post as often as the others.

Good luck mate.

BTW, I think shared pictures and a concise yet interesting threat title makes a world of difference.

Agree with your post, it's been about the same for me, experience wise.

I have now forgotten why I originally asked.lol.

Good!

"mongrelizing" hahah!
I am not sure what the current situation on purebred decrease is and I don't see how you could get an accurate answer on it. There are for sure some breeds eg: silkies that are in no way under threat from mixing pure breeds, but quality White Leghorns for example are becoming increasingly hard to find ( I proved this over the weekend by not finding ANYONE who is currently selling them.lol. ). Now I'm not sure if WLH's are hard to find because of mix breeding or just a lack of interest in them.
So really, I actually have no idea of what the current state is ( personally ) but have been told by 3rd parties.

( I'm well tired I hope that all made sense and not just talking out of my arse

You incubated black swans? Wicked!
Along with chooks, not sure what you mean when you say "building repal with other members".

I've not heard about the gender forum!?! Will look for it.
I used to do that but don't get feed back on my assistance so one eventually gives up.
No one has ever asked me about living in Aus, doesn't worry me though.lol.

Thanks Ben

Lol, I am not the best speller, so I spelt it phonetically and it did not correct me so I thought "cool, got it first go!" hahahaha. I won't learn if I am not told.

I never hatched some, just shared some pics from a local wier. We have them wild, the US folk pay $2100 for them.

The gender forum is a child forum of the 'Chicken Breeds' forum.

I have picked up many tips in there.
You guys could help me out by checking out my Picture thread link ( in my sig ) and possibly getting in on it

Also, not to sure if I am happy with the tittle so could you help me out on that, perhaps?
I will scoot over and see what's what. Nearly time to put the kids to bed though so I might not be able to hang around too long.
