Starting Successful Threads.

Stuff that!!
Is that for like a breeding trio??

We don't have Black Swans near us but I have seen them and they are wonderful, especially in large flocks or with their signets.

Don't let some dissenting opinions shut you up. ;) Everyone's got a valid opinion, at least some of the time, lol.

:yuckyuck

I was just reading through this thread because it reminded me of a quest I was once on to start lots of long threads. :p
I found I was moderately successful with random competitions. I did a couple of scavenger hunts and a trivia quiz, but it wasn't only the official ones - I'd also started the post-count wars and the thread killing championships, which a lot of people seemed to find a desire to partake in....

Oh well, how important one finds these things changes over time. Nowadays I hardly ever start threads. I read interesting ones, draft out replies and pretend I think I know what I'm talking about :p
I have opinions, sometimes, but concerning them I am rarely capable of finding a way of making myself sound convincing, rational, coherent or, at times, sane. lol. I have weird allegiances, and the number of absurd interests I harbour borders on terrifying at times. (Fortescue Metals anyone?! :woot) It's better on the computer when I can spend half an hour editing my way through a post before sending if I want. There go my hopes of ever becoming a politician. (And in various stages also my hopes of becoming an explosives expert, or a a billionaire stockbroker, or an airline pilot. I have, as you can probably tell, long been afflicted by a lack of any serious long-standing ambitions :lau)

...Oh yeah that's right. I live in Australia as well. I technically belong to three countries on three different continents and therefore consider myself a citizen of the world... I don't even know the national anthem of any country besides one that doesn't even exist anymore. :p The fun just keeps coming.

Quote: Yeah lol I like to make up words sometime. "Mongrelizing" the language. It's a mongrelized language anyway ;)

My opinion on the security of purebreds is of course based on my own research and experiences with breeders and breeds in Australia but I'll be the first to say it's not comprehensive. Just an opinion really, formed as most opinions are, through what you have found to be true and believe is true.

WLHs are really poplar around here and more people than not have at least some of them if they have poultry. Isabrowns are the next most popular. Generally these are of course only folks keeping them for eggs, but I've seen some WLHs with such good type that if I didn't dislike the breed I would have kept them, so someone's breeding them carefully.
Quote: Oh, lol, all good then, but now I am wondering what "repal" means if it wasn't corrected. I don't know that word.
Quote: Great spelling and an ability to sway others to your point of view with clever wording are overrated. The actual information is more important by far. As a teenager I learned some sharp and incisive (read: eviscerating) debating methods and at the end of the day, it was all just wordplay, the topic never mattered as much as everyone pretended. Well, it mattered to me, and once I realized it didn't matter to others, that the argument itself with the grandstanding and posturing and quibbling mattered more to them --- I was outta there! So much was underhanded and intellectually dishonest. Which is also my opinion of most politics. I know there's room in politics for good, honest people though, so please don't take it personally that my view on politics in general is dim. Have you ever tried to sit and watch a session of Australian Parliament? One image that comes to mind is our then-Prime Minister spraying spit as he called his opponents names like "maggots".

Most Aussies probably don't know our national anthem, it's forgettable to put it nicely, dreary and almost monotone to put it less nicely. Sometimes I think 'waltzing matilda' was more relevant. We need something new, and our flag needs an update too. Just in my opinion. While I'm not Indigenous nor do I have any Indigenous rellies, (immigrant stock) I do think our flag ought to at the very least be combined with theirs.

I've got a lot of weird interests too, or just widely spaced, lol... It takes a bit of effort to keep track of everything sometimes. Quite busy lately but it's a good thing. :D

Best wishes to everyone.

HEY! How's it going in the land of OZ?

Are you having a nice summer or are you baking?
Maybe I am getting old, (no maybe, it happens on a daily basis) but I am really sick of winter, and summer. I need a perpetual spring/fall thing. Where is that?

I get about a month of garden growing weather, then it becomes too hot to keep it going. I have my seeds up. I think I might have a bigger garden than I planned on. The mice left them alone and they all germinated.
I hope it is a good year. I can my produce...I have to grow my tomatoes in a greenhouse because of the insect pests, so they get hotter sooner and give it up sooner too.
