For beginners it's like they are little demons. Well I still think that pretty often...

In starting out are they about the same? I am building a hutch style box for a brooder. It will be raised off the ground. I only plan to start out with maybe 30 eggs, so however many I hatch from that is what will be in there. It will be 8 sq ft., so I will be planning on building something much bigger in the near future.

We also are starting with a pair of Valleys. It was all my daughter wanted for Christmas. (THAT"S a story on its own!) We are keeping them in her room right now as the weather in Montana will be 40 today, but -0 by tomorrow night. She has tamed them down and holds them, feeds them by hand; they have really calmed down. I'm surprised.

What kind of nesting box/basket do we need?
When can one expect eggs?

We will build an outside run/flight pen in the spring, Smaller breeding pen? or just let them do their thing in the run?

They are sooo cute!
