BOBS ARE AGRESSIVE AND CAN BE DIFFICULT AT BEST TO DEAL WITH UNTIL FAMILIAR WITH THEIR BEHAVIORS AND QWIRKS. SO BOBS ARE NOT FOR FAINT OF HEART OR FRAIL PEOPLE. ALSO WHEN YOU POST ON HERE SEEKING INFORMATION USE CAUTION SINCE COTURNIX ARE THE PREVALENT SPECES HERE MUCH INFORMATION YOU RECEIVE WILL BE INCORRECT FOR BOBS. BE SURE TO EMPHYSIZE BOB WHITES IN ANY POSTS SEEKING INFORMATION ON THEM AND IF IT DOESNT SOUND QUITE RIGHT BE SUSPICIOUS AS IT MAY BE CORRECT FOR COTURNIX BUT WAY WRONG FOR BOBS. GOOD LUCK AND DONT LET FRUSTRATION GET THE BETTER OF YOU, THEY ARE A WONDERFUL SPECES ONCE YOU GET THE HANG OF IT
In starting out are they about the same? I am building a hutch style box for a brooder. It will be raised off the ground. I only plan to start out with maybe 30 eggs, so however many I hatch from that is what will be in there. It will be 8 sq ft., so I will be planning on building something much bigger in the near future.
We also are starting with a pair of Valleys. It was all my daughter wanted for Christmas. (THAT"S a story on its own!) We are keeping them in her room right now as the weather in Montana will be 40 today, but -0 by tomorrow night. She has tamed them down and holds them, feeds them by hand; they have really calmed down. I'm surprised.
What kind of nesting box/basket do we need?
When can one expect eggs?
We will build an outside run/flight pen in the spring, Smaller breeding pen? or just let them do their thing in the run?
