Crossing the Road
I had to step around them all day. The grinder and the drill never phased them. My dogs are even worse because they always want to investigate and help me.Those are great pics! Glad to see your accidental pics!![]()

I don't mind colour as long as food is healthy and tastes good. So you would have too give me my shareThe purples taste great roasted/baked!
Don’t try to make mashed potatoes or soup…comes out looking grey. I’ll eat it anyway but my family was like, what the heck is this slop?![]()

I think I have been watching clips about the Appalachian mountains. It sounds like a wonderful place.I grew up in the Appalachian mountains and my grandmother used what she called mountain medicine to treat most everything. I would often gather roots and herbs for her teas and poultice making. She lived to 95 and rarely visited a doctor. I wish I had taken notes.
Absolutely. People have not appreciated this valuable information for so long I'm betting they will deeply regret this soonOh wow! What an amazing resource she would be now!
I love garlic and can eat it raw or cookedOh, here's something from that book, Eating on the Wild Side. Garlic is good for you, we knew that. Raw garlic can be a little harsh, but cooking it can destroy the healthy stuff. But, according to studies, if you mince or press the garlic, and let it sit for 10 minutes before you heat it, the good stuff is retained.
I'm not going to retype the whole page where I read this (pg 51). Suffice to say, I'll be mincing/mashing and then resting my garlic before I toss it in a pan from now on.
This weekend I will see if I can find some pictures and post a few here. I do remember a few of her sayings about reading the signs of weather. Tomorrow I will order the book I mentioned previously and see if brings back more memories.I think I have been watching clips about the Appalachian mountains. It sounds like a wonderful place.
Maybe some of what your grandmother said will eventually sink back into your thoughts.![]()
Good morning .Hi Marie,
This is a great thread idea! I use grapefruit seed extract to wash my fruits and veggies. It’s 10 drops per gallon of water, I think but that’s what I do, and soak before washing and using. Doesn’t matter if I’m going to leave the skin on or not, everything I buy from the store gets this treatment. I soak three to five ish minutes for most things, but cucumbers and apples get a little more time because of all the wax. Scrub/rinse well.
I must look it up online againThis weekend I will see if I can find some pictures and post a few here. I do remember a few of her sayings about reading the signs of weather. Tomorrow I will order the book I mentioned previously and see if brings back more memories.
Good morning @Madhouse PulletWhat kind if vinegar? ACV or white distilled vinegar?
If I grew my cilantro inside the house, do you have to wash them?
Stay warm and hopefully the electricity stays on!
Thank you for the link!
How long do you soak them?
