I put my chickens under my deck too!! THEY LOVE IT UNDER THERE!!!! The gate is open all the time now (coz the whole back yard is fenced properly now) and they still go under there a lot.

The ONLY downside is that it attracts flies to my back door in the summertime, but we had a fly problem WAAAY before the chickens ever came along, so it's just part of life here.

I just rotated them out of there for half of the week, so to let it dry out better, that helped the flies move elsewhere.

Do they have nest boxes to lay in? I couldn't see any. And if so, is your wife gonna have to crawl up under there every day to collect them?

Yeah, the chickens will love it. Double Cover. i'll bet if you hooked up some roosts down there outside of the coop (if no predators are around) they'd really dig it.

is your yard fenced? will chickens wander off?

i started out two months ago putting mine in a tool shed. i want shed back so chickens are going to a chicken tractor. so my improv didn't work. Your's might!
