My sad news today- lost one of your Isbars Mary. The little splash!

I think she got too cold last night, she was lethargic all day and passed at dinnertime. It really wasn't very cold last night, 60ish, and she was fully feathered! 5 1/2 weeks old. So sad. Brought the others back into the house brooder until I can get electric run to the grow out pen. I still have the two blues at least!
sorry. I dont think the cold was the culprit. I have had upper 40's already a few times and my 5 weekers at the time took it like champs. fully feathered should take that especially if there are a few and can hunker down together.

Speckledhen, we decided to buy first then sell after we move the four emus from this property to the new one. They have gotten pretty aggressive with strangers and if someone ventured into the pasture I couldn't vouch for their safety. Plus, I like to know I have a place to live before putting my house on the market.

Still lots of drama about closing the deal before 5:00 p.m. on Friday thanks to our "loan specialist" and her mistakes, omissions and lies. My money is in and the other should fund tomorrow.

Anyway, less than 48 hours until we can breathe a sigh of relief or cry a bucket of tears.

That really is the best way if you can afford it. We've only been able to do that twice and it was far superior to needing one house to close before the new one could!

Thinking good thoughts for you on the closing, Mary!! I keep coming back here to check on you.

lonnyandrinda , I'm also sorry about the little Isbar. I doubt the weather had anything to do with it. Must have been some internal issue that caught up with her.

Sorry you lost a chick lonnyandrinda.

Kathy - my kids LOVE making fresh butter. Around the holidays when I have leftover cream, we make it. (though we don't shake it - I have a kitchen aid mixer) I would so love to get fresh cows milk, but I haven't found anyone around here. I do own a goat share though, so I get fresh goat's milk.

mmlddh (Mike, right? Gosh I'm bad with names) - My BR has never molted that hard before. She's coming up on 4 years old.

Yes, it is Mike. I am terrible with names

I guess the DW trained her new goat more than I thought, it gave me a good kick in the chest.

I feel so bad for my Chickie Mama.......she looks horrible!! My Icelandics lose and replace feathers at the same time....they NEVER look like this.........

Is this a SLW?!?!?! That is Shocking.

Tammy, You saw this girl when you were here.........she has never molted like this before...I don't know what is up, but she is getting scrambled eggs and dry cat food to help her get her feathers back before it gets any colder...........
