Love this Coop! It looks like a little one in the background too.

Who's coop is this?

HI Guys, Just wanted to share some pics of my girls who turned 22 weeks today!
Buff and California white leghorns, and our 4 week old mini goat, Faunus!

Yesterday I continued my downsizing project and 40+ chickens now have new homes. Among them were a dozen Icelandic pullets and hens. I kept 6 Icelandic females (Kola and Snow stayed, of course) and 1 male. The Icelandic chicks with broody mamas will be going in a couple weeks, too.

Spurs - talk about spurs! Icelandic spurs....

We expect spurs in roosters, of course.
I removed these yesterday, by the way. (It is very easy).

KOLA (who looks awful molting) ! ! !

Have I told you how I hate GMOs (and Monsanto)? I've done quite a bit of research and it just sickens me.

I finally found a place to order organic food (people food)! They even deliver to our town once a month. I got my order done yesterday, and today we all got an email with the things that did not fill a full case, to see if anyone is interested in filling the case. I am soooo excited! Ordering a whole months worth of food was difficult, too!

I am getting raw milk locally too, from an Amish family. Do you know how easy it is to make butter from raw milk? SIMPLE! We used to do it when I was a kid (we had cows). Skim the cream off the top the milk, put it in a jar and shake and shake and shake (dancing while you do this will make it all the sweeter

) - about 10 minutes. Pour off the liquid (buttermilk) and rinse the butter with water (rinsing it with water makes it stay fresher longer). Add a little salt and there ya go.... fresh butter!

The thing that absolutely cracks me up about Monsanto (and I rarely post of these type things) is that the Monsanto cafeteria for their employees will not serve GMO food, because they want their employees to feel safe about the food they eat.

Irony at it's finest! But really, it's okay for everyone else!
