I don't know who looks worse, yours or mine. Probably yours.

Am I evil because I LOVE taking pictures of them molting? It still fascinates me when they lose all their feathers. Then they grow them back in as good as new.

Have I told you how I hate GMOs (and Monsanto)? I've done quite a bit of research and it just sickens me.

I finally found a place to order organic food (people food)! They even deliver to our town once a month. I got my order done yesterday, and today we all got an email with the things that did not fill a full case, to see if anyone is interested in filling the case. I am soooo excited! Ordering a whole months worth of food was difficult, too!

I am getting raw milk locally too, from an Amish family. Do you know how easy it is to make butter from raw milk? SIMPLE! We used to do it when I was a kid (we had cows). Skim the cream off the top the milk, put it in a jar and shake and shake and shake (dancing while you do this will make it all the sweeter

) - about 10 minutes. Pour off the liquid (buttermilk) and rinse the butter with water (rinsing it with water makes it stay fresher longer). Add a little salt and there ya go.... fresh butter!
Did you use the pliers method for those roosters wicked spurs?
I'm getting raw milk very local, and sometimes I share with an Amish family. Goat milk is different, its naturally homegenized, but making butter is a lot more complicated.

or this.

Mine have been lose and replace quickly, no really bad bare spots. I guess I've been lucky.

edited to correct spelling

This arrived in the mail Monday (ok, it was a private transport) :

It wouldn't have been so bad, but DW sold my two favorites the other week, bought this first freshener, then went out of town for me to start training it in our ways. DW will be back Sat. or Sun, chevon for dinner Fri. or Sat?

Speckledhen, we decided to buy first then sell after we move the four emus from this property to the new one. They have gotten pretty aggressive with strangers and if someone ventured into the pasture I couldn't vouch for their safety. Plus, I like to know I have a place to live before putting my house on the market.

Still lots of drama about closing the deal before 5:00 p.m. on Friday thanks to our "loan specialist" and her mistakes, omissions and lies. My money is in and the other should fund tomorrow.

Anyway, less than 48 hours until we can breathe a sigh of relief or cry a bucket of tears.

I think she got too cold last night, she was lethargic all day and passed at dinnertime. It really wasn't very cold last night, 60ish, and she was fully feathered! 5 1/2 weeks old. So sad. Brought the others back into the house brooder until I can get electric run to the grow out pen. I still have the two blues at least!
