Glad to hear the great news, Mary! Hope the move goes smoothly for ya!

I am craving fall comfort food. I am freezing - it is actually in the 30s tonight.
Anyone have a good recipe for squash? I love squash. I usually just make stuffed squash - with my favorite meatloaf recipe. I am gonna make that, too - but, I want something else too.

yum . butter squash with leeks , garlic chicken broth arugula and some half and half ( cook it all together till tender ( minus the arugula and cream) then blend it or mush it then throw the aurula on top for a few minutes blend more add cream and blend again)
I like it somewhat chunky but smooth is good too.
you can also use potato's instead of squash

Congratulations Mary, but moving.................

I'm struggling right now with my remodel. The toaster and the coffee pot are on the bathroom counter. There's a microwave and an electric single burner balanced on the trunk we keep kindling by the woodstove in the living room. There are dishes and cutlery on the wine bar, crammed behind DH's chair. The dining room table and giant french door refrigerator are in the living room!

Shawn!! Good to see you here! How are things going on the acreage? How are things coming along? Have you started your house yet?

haven't started on the house yet.. hopefully next summer... I have the fence finished around the ten acres... just need the gates now... everything takes longer than I have planned!!

The turkeys left for their new home Saturday..

...sad to see them go but necessary. They will be a breeding pair at a retired school counselor's farm...he will spoil them...they will love it!
There was a bit of ice on a low place by the water spigot this morning....

....but....this morning was suppose to be the coldest in the ten day forecast. I'm hoping for a loooooooonnnggggg Indian Summer!

..........and.....I found Anna's singleton under a wire panel that was propped-up to close-off an opening to the meat birds area. It was clearly near death with a broken neck and who knows what else. I ended it's suffering. I feel bad for Anna since she only had the one, but she was up in the roost with the flock that evening like she knew life must go on. I hate knowing I could have done more to attach the panel so this would not have happened........

We all make mistakes Mary.

I also miss my turkeys (it's soooooo quiet out there now), but I know they went to a better home than I could give them. I had 2 broodies fight over a chick (they hatched the same day) and I lost a chick. I separated them, but apparently not well enough. It happens............unfortunately.








And as a side note....................I'll admit it.........................I'm going through Mary withdrawals. I talk to Mary more than I talk to my mother. And she's been moving and I don't have her new number yet. I know she needs to unpack, but I miss her

My DH could care less about my chicken adventures.

I'm with you hoping for a long Indian Summer! I'm cold now, and it's not even freezing yet!
