Stella's Social Club

We've been going for months with zero to three or four eggs from all the groups put together. I think lots of us are way overdue for some filled cartons. But, remember, I have a huge percentage of my hens who are considered elderly. My youngest Large Fowl girls in the main coop are Dru, who is just about a year old, Raven who is about 30 weeks (my only regular layer in that coop now), Delia, who isn't laying yet, though she is 27 weeks or so, and little Serena., who is just 17 weeks old. I have four or five who are 2 1/2, then a few who are 3 1/2 and it goes up in age from there. Out of about 29 large fowl hens/pullets, I think about fourteen are 5-7 years old.

It's nice to hear so many of you starting to get more eggs. We got 0 today, doubling yesterday's total of 0.
Bummer. Hope you get some eggs soon.

One of my Icelandics started back up today from her molt. Gosh I love how fast they molt and get back to laying!

The pullets that I got from Mary Notafarm are all laying, along with my older hens, and soon my own raised pullets will be laying, by spring I will probably have a couple dozen a day. Right now keeping friends supplied.

The late chicks I had hatch from Marys eggs are the tamest youngsters that I have ever had. One loves to be held, and the others all stand to be petted. I have them in the basement now, all will go outside once the roosters there are gone.

These two young roosterss are a gorgeous black and white, almost painted, one is a SC so he wont be staying here but is sure a beauty. Soon as I get a camera I will post some pics. The crested RC pullet of the group is patterned the same except she has brown where the roosters have black plus a tinge of blue. She is absolutely beautiful.

Its real winter here, 2' new snow and teens with more to come this week. Santa has a great week to do his thing.

Merry Christmas to all here, and yours. Enjoy !

Life is good, and better with Icelandic Chickens !
