My splash OE pullet decided to give me a winter solstice gift. A beautiful olive egg.

Also, several of my molters are in the nestboxes again!

I got 6 eggs yesterday. I hope it continues because after feeding 3 14 year old boys this morning, I'm a bit shy on eggs for Christmas baking.

My Belgian D'Anvers suddenly began cranking out the eggs. I have 6 new layers in there, plus a year old hen, two almost 2 yr old hens and three almost 3 yr old hens. I just sold someone 17 hatching eggs a few days ago and I have another 17 for sale right now, though I want local pickup. I never ever shipped during holiday rush, even when I did go through the hassle of shipping eggs every week or two. Out of the 17 layers in the main coop, two of those not laying yet but on the verge, only 5 seem to be laying sporadically. My 7 year old Meg is laying a few eggs per week right now and a few who are 5-7 years old in the retirement coop haven't retired at all, but are giving me a few eggs each week as well.

It is great to get to this point of the year! Eggs will start increasing along with the light!

Agreed! And suddenly, in the main coop, two more hens came back into lay, including my 5 1/2 year old EE, June. My nicest neighbor called the other day to ask if I had eggs now and I told her, yet again, it might be another month before I had any extra to sell, but hopefully, it won't be that long! She has a heart condition and likes the healthy eggs from my birds, much prefers them to the old, nasty store bought ones.

One of my neighbors buys eggs for a relative that has Cancer. The store eggs do not sit well with her Chemo. She can eat these fine though.

I'm not a bit surprised. This same customer of mine has a grown daughter who lives down around Atlanta. Every time she visits, she wants to buy eggs to take back with her because she and her friends also love them.

It's nice to hear so many of you starting to get more eggs. We got 0 today, doubling yesterday's total of 0.
X2

ALL my hens are molting...no eggs for weeks now.

But one of the hen's comb's is starting to redden pretty good now and she keeps staring into the nest boxes...so I am hoping for an egg soon!
