Kathy doesn't know that isn't a shovel either. Gonna take a long time with that.

He prefers to use the rake. What can I say. He seems to be leaning toward the genius side of the scale, kinda like his mother.

Uh, no comment here. Now, back to eggs.

I may have a new layer. Only two are not laying, 30 week old Delia, a Delaware x BR, and Serena, a 19 week old Delaware x BLRW/Ameraucana. Here are some eggs from the LF girls today, labeled with the names of the one who laid it. It's SUPER dark, almost Welsummer-ish with speckles.

Raven is also 1/2 Delaware like Delia and Serena and her egg is exactly the color of most of the Dellies I've had over the years. Could be this was just a first egg with extra "paint", but it would be cool if she kept laying that color.

Here is Raven's next to the dark one:

Kathy - maybe we are underestimating Kayson. I mean, if he "pretends" not to know what a shovel is, he won't have to do the work - right?
Oh yeah, that's it!

My kids each got a bag of goodies and toys at the speech therapy clinic before Christmas. They just love the silly glasses!

What cute kids you have, Rinda! Gorgeous!

Beautiful egg Cyn.

Aha! The male psyche. They are always "helping", so it's never really their actual job, meaning they don't have to do it well. Kayson may have already caught onto this eternal truth. I mean, how many times have you heard a husband say he's "babysitting" the kids. Um, say what? I thought it was called parenting when it was your own kid. But, nope, male thinking at work. Kayson, buddy, you're about as clueless as a fox, my little man.

And what is it with weather forecasting? Every time I look at the forecast, they have changed it. Monday's overnight low went from 13* to 11* to 7* to 6* to 4* to...are you ready? Now, it's -1 to -3*. This is Georgia, last time I looked. Even in the mountains here, we have only been down to zero twice in the last 12 years that I recall and that was before I had chickens. They haven't felt anything like this. I fear I may lose some older hens who are already showing signs of stress, like my beautiful old red Meg, who is 7 years old. She wasn't doing well 2 days last week in one cold snap but this? This might kill her.
