The goofball feeding the raccoons is going to get a bonus pleasure ,of rabies shots ,when they start scratching at him or biting him because they are so anxious. What a horrible site - where did they all come from - looks like they were bused in.

No kidding. Reminds me of the man we saw in Yellowstone that put his 2 year old son in front of a buffalo so he could get a picture.

Real smarts there.

I used to appliqué when I was a stay-at-home mom. I may take it up again. Since I peeled my nails back to the nubs, I'll probably get a needle through the end of my finger! I may need to wait until my nails grow back in. I haven't torn them back this far since I was doing my first nursing job. Maybe it's stress related. Oh well, there's no way to go but up at this point!

Hope you feel better Kelly!

HI Jake! Nice to see you again. Are you enjoying your place now and plan to stay? I hope so, though I loved the chicken road trip posts.

As far as the raccoon guy, we were stupid too when we lived in Folsom on a small lot and they came up from the ravine behind our house. I know better now!

Michael is working on my new brooder. I ripped everything out of the little yellow house. It is not level so the water spilled everywhere and the savings got soaked, etc. It was disgusting. The new brooder will be built level ignoring the fact that it may look wonky because the house itself slants. I want brooders that are easier to keep clean. It will be one big brooder that can be sectioned off into two or three smaller brooders in case I am brooding different breed or ages. We took the opportunity to insulate while the house was empty so that should help a lot with heat and cold issues. I was shocked one day to find the waterers frozen solid inside the brooder house. Luckily the chicks could get under the Ecoglow. I hope the project is finished today because my one sole survivor of the 22 Isbar eggs I set just hatched! It is either a black or blue but it is still wet so it's hard to tell.

Kathy! I am so making those placemats. The example doesn't look sewn around the edges. Maybe just folded under for the picture. I think another trip to the fabric store is in my future! I may only get one done for food photography though!

Congratulations!

I picked up a new water fountain for chicks. It was from a person in Colorado. My now two week old chicks picked up using it quickly. It is not super large but the concept could be scaled up.

I will find more information and get back to you with it.
