Stella's Social Club

I rehomed Gabriel today! Guy lost his rooster this winter and wanted a new one for his six free range hens. Gabriel was a good boy when we caught him and of course, is very handsome, so he got a new home. I'm sure Scout and Rex are thrilled, but confused about where he went. And Deacon's favorite sport, aka Chase Little Brother, is now a thing of the past.
I love it when you can find a good boy a new home.

Here are a few pictures of some of the Crele Penedesenca x silver ameraucana olive eggers that hatched. They look closer to the silver ameraucana chicks that hatched
Adorable! Congrats!

I made cherry dark chocolate chip muffins. My granddaughters just left and cleaned me out!

Now I won't eat them all myself.

Cute chicks Ron, now stop it!

Chocolate and cherries, YUM! Beautiful picture too!

BTW, you are supposed to do your baking on Monday, so I can have some when I come by on Tuesday.

Those chicks are darling.

Back home overnight, back to Dad's tomorrow. My chickens still seem to know who I am. I had forgotten just in the time I was gone how deep the snow here is. And it is 5 degrees. Had to shovel off the run roof for fear it would collapse. Completely sure again about not hatching chicks anytime soon.

Always a great day when you can find a good home for a nice rooster.

You have more on your plate to worry about than hatching chicks.

Yes but thanks my friends for reminding me daily that chicks hatch, deer roam, and beauty is there for us to see.

Yes, some days I need that reminder too. I'm caring for my grandmother, who has Dementia and Parkinson's. She is degrading so rapidly. Today, she called me to ask me if she could "count on me to visit her a couple days a week". I told her I'm already there at least twice a week. (and I was just there Friday) I pay all of her bills as well. Her ability to recognize time is gone - I think a day to her feels like a week. Sit at a table with her for 10 minutes at a restaurant and she's complaining that the food isn't there yet.

I made extra cinnamon rolls today so I can take her some tomorrow. She likes sweet things for breakfast.
