Okay geese, not ducks...................but how can you resist. You are under their spell!

Twice in the last week I have seen a big red fox by the coops, the chickens of course standing inside the fence gawking. They have no sense of self-preservation whatsoever.

And on my way back home on Monday north of Green Bay saw this pretty girl and her 3 babies playing alongside the road - she saw me slow down and hollered at her kits, they were making for the hole under the barn.

I LOVE the barn!

When I was just on my trip to England, I spent my whole time feeding the foxes (no chickens to worry about). I'd put out all the food scraps every afternoon, then watch the game camera when the sun went down. They would cruise through every night to eat whatever I left..................their favorite..............salmon skin. Of course, they were pretty happy the night I put out the end of the leg of lamb......................"wow, a lamb died in the woods with garlic!".

In the whopping 1 HOUR that I was home yesterday, I happened to look out back and saw something "off" on my brooder coops run. I took a closer look and there was a big Coopers hawk sitting on top of their run eyeballing my 3 week old babies. It couldn't get to them, and I ran to get my camera, but it flew off when I came back. So no picture.
Was it a double barrel camera?

No. Hawks are protected by law.

We ate one of our Cornish X last night. Dang, it was so moist and tender and it had flavor. Yummy! It made all the work in caring for them and processing them worth it. I don't know that I'll ever be able to eat chicken from the grocery store again.
